Most overrated amp ever... pick 1!

I loved the Randall G2 and G3 series stuff. A little bass heavy, but really natural and musical distortion while still having the solid state pissed off vibe. I liked those better than the Dimebag amps for the tone that I go for, personally. I used to have a Fender Frontman that I converted...

Most overrated amp ever... pick 1!

I agree. I don't think the Katana are necessarily bad as much as they're 90% YouTube hype. I'd take an old Peavey Vypyr over a Katana any day as far as cheap modeling amps go. Again, not that they're bad. They're just way overrated. To add to that, Orange Super Crush whatever. Again, not that...

I don't think the SLO is overrated. I think the 800 is way overrated.

    Ernie Ball strings

I mean... To me, they sound like strings and that's it? I honestly don't notice a world of difference between the well-known brands as long as the gauges are the same, but I've never really scrutinized the difference between them all. I bet that would be interesting. But I'm lucky that my sweat...

    Tuners for a Fender Strat?

No, the trem is blocked. The nut is well cut too (I had it professionally set up for my 11-54 gauge of strings when the new neck came in), and I use Nut Sauce. That makes me think it's the tuners. The tuning on my Gibson is more stable, honestly. Honestly, the problem is not bad, it's just that...

    Tuners for a Fender Strat?

I visually like the Hipshots that look like they're made for Fenders, but I'd prefer non-locking. I don't really like the plates and I'm dubious about the open gears, but that's just me. :/

    Tuners for a Fender Strat?

I got a Frankenstrat (sorta) I put together. It's an old Road Worn Strat with a baked Maple neck. I used the stock tuners which are the Ping-made Fender-branded square ones. They're not all that great. The tuning stability is not all that great. The trem is blocked, the nut is professionally...

alt.metal Blackouts® Overview with Ryan "Fluff" Bruce

I don't think he ever sold out so much as came out of the closet, LOL. His videos were all "ya MetulZ edgy" at first, but then he slowly transitioned on reviewing Blink 182, Maroon 5, and Green Day and going on about how awesome they are and they shaped his taste for tone.

havent played anything else in weeks

I used to have one of those, and it was great. I also used to have the 5W version, and it wasn't nearly as fun. It was kinda harsh.

    RANDALL WARHEAD TONES….because fuck midrange

I love the character of the high-end. Very 90's Death Metal. Was it boosted?

EMG Retro-Actives...Hot 77...You Guys Tried Them?

I don't think it does. I've only tried it briefly, so take it as a grain of salt, but it sounded to me more like a more or less standard bright hot overwound Ceramic passive a la Duncan Distortion or Gibson 500T... sort of along those lines. I know there's kind of a noticeable difference...

Why I hate my Jackson RRT3

What I hate about Jacksons with Tune-O's is they're soooooooooo far away from the bridge pickup. For a time, all Jacksons were like that. I used to have a DKMG from the 2000's which played great and was made great. It's just that damn bridge pickup sounded so dull and blunt no matter what...

what little jazz picks you guys liking?

I'm using the 1.0 mm Tortex blue ones. Considering going to the 0.88 green ones. I shred the Tortex ones like they're made of chalk, but I like how they sound the best for rhythm. They're snappy rather than thuddy like Nylon/Stiffo or chirpy like Ultex. The lighter, the snappier too. But if I...

Please school me on Gibson T-Tops and T-Top clones

As far as I understand, you can achieve a T-Top-ish kinda vibe by dropping a short A5 magnet on a 490R or a Duncan Jazz N as T-Tops are wound with 42 gauge poly-coated wire in the 7K-ish range.
