    Captor X impedance curve

Many thanks Ross, exactly what I wanted to know.

    Captor X impedance curve

Thanks for the info Ross. There is only one setting on the original Captor, the -20db speaker out jack. So is that output achieved with just a resistor off the main load, and nothing more complex? The other reason to consider the Captor X was the extra attenuation available. -20db isn't enough...

    Captor X impedance curve

What is the consequence, theoretically speaking, of the amp having the captor load and then a cab load added to it when using the attenuated output? Does it mean the sound has the U shaped curve imposed on the cab impedance curve? Or is that signal is compensated for with EQ internally on that...

    Captor X impedance curve

Hi Ross. Mainly for attenuation, but also into a DAW for recording. On my JVM I was experiencing odd ghost-like notes under some notes, but not on other amps, and only when using the Captor. Is the attenuated out taken from the main load in some way or is it just resistive?

    Captor X impedance curve

Thanks for the info Ross, that's exactly what I wanted to know! I have a Captor and wanted to know if the Captor X was improved on load side of things. I've had an issue with the way my JVM 410h worked with the Captor. I'm sure I saw somewhere that the impedance curve is U shaped, similar in...

    Captor X impedance curve

Hi. Does the Captor X and Captor have the same impedance curve? Is the reactive hardware identical in both?

Rack build: How to route the FX send signal?

Right. They might be both clones of the Rane in that case (though they use xlrs mostly and a mix/split button on each channel). Can't find Rane in the UK. Got the behringer on order, hopefully that'll work and provide some future flexibility.

Rack build: How to route the FX send signal?

Found two mixer/splitters. Behringer ULTRALINK PRO MX882 V2, which looks like a clone of LD Systems LDMS828. I think either of these will work.

Rack build: How to route the FX send signal?

Yes exactly. The Marshall loop isn't the best, but I'm upgrading it with a board from Headfirst. I've actually just set the rig up in stereo using an ISP stealth power amp, far from ideal as it's only driving a 2nd cab with just the other side of the FX on it so its lop-sided sounding, and the...

Rack build: How to route the FX send signal?

I have a couple of heads, but I'm currently using a JCM800 2203 reissue (but I'm planning to upgrade the loop board in it). FX is mostly vintage stuff, D1500 delay, SPX90, Roland 2500 and a lexicon MPX100. Mixer is Behringer 1602. Thinking about it again, your suggestion of a loop switcher may...

Rack build: How to route the FX send signal?

Thanks for the info Dave. If I go passive for the time being I'm thinking I can build a patch bay for the rear. Then again, could I just use an off the shelf patchbay unit like this https://www.neutrik.com/en/product/nys-spp-l1 and daisy chain the channels, or even solder jumpers internally...

Rack build: How to route the FX send signal?

No I hadn't. Looks good, but expensive. Is there a passive option, like a patch bay? Or is passive routing a bad idea? That said midi control would be nice. EDIT: looking at it again, that seems to be a series loop switcher, to take units in and out of the signal, which is one way to do it...

Rack build: How to route the FX send signal?

I'm putting together a rack, with several delays, reverb, and multi FX units and a 1u mixer to combine the outputs back to the FX loop return. But how do I split and distrubute the FX loop send to the various units? At the moment I have a little 1 in 4 out 1/4" jack box, but need something...

Recommend some great delays, verbs and multifx

Just got an 8u rack to house everything along with a 1u behringer mixer so I've been able to do quick direct comparisons. The delays on the SPX90 aren't too bad at all, I was surprised. The only annoyance is there's no pan control, you have to connect the L and R outs to get both delays. AFAICT...

Recommend some great delays, verbs and multifx

Yeah, spx90 was really fulfilling a dream on behalf of 16yr old me, it was unobtanium at the time. Funny how things play out, still looks cool though. Detune, chorus, reverb and 2nd delay would be main duties for the mpx1. Does it allow patching in of external FX? I'd like to use the d1500 as...

Recommend some great delays, verbs and multifx

Thanks maxF. I picked up a lexicon mpx100 for £40, it's really not too bad for what it is, and it's tiny. I also found an spx90 and a Roland sde2500. The Roland is v nice, but has a max delay of 750ms, not as separate sounding as the d1500. The way its delays stand apart from the dry signal is...

JCA100/50 mod - heater hum fix?

I disconnected the black ground wire and tested it and there was continuity between it and the 6.3v taps. But there was also continuity from the 6.3v to any ground point. So they are grounded elsewhere via the board I think. That was probably the PT CT (skinnier than expected). Added the...

JCA100/50 mod - heater hum fix?

Can't find a schematic online for the 100w, only the 50w. I don't want to just presume everything will be identical in preamp. The 50w does show a centre tap on the heaters but who knows... If I disconnect that black wire I can just check for continuity with it and the 6.3v wires, right? Yeah...

JCA100/50 mod - heater hum fix?

Hi, very late to the Jet City modding thing, but I hope someone might still remember these! I've just done a JCA50H mod on my JCA100H following Jason Tong's scheme he published, video here. All is working well except for V2 which is picking up a lot of hum, presumably from the AC heaters...

What causes amps to 'warble' on single notes?

Well, that's not quite correct. The JVM on OD1 is worst, the JCA100/20 do it but less. But the new amp barely does it at all with the captor. Taking the captor out solved the issue completely on all amps. And actually they sound better overall. Now, whether the amp+captor are just accentuating...
