I'm not modding the chassis. The chassis has the jack cutouts for the Send and Receive. I would mod the Metroloop Board to work with existing design. Concerning diminished value, I'm sensitive to that, but amps are for playing. If adding one more cutout makes it more playable then I'll...
What's the mod going to do? Move the two stages (send and receive) and adjust the levels or add additional buffering for the loop.
My two cents is I wouldn't do it. You'll have a different amp afterwards.
I have a 90 Loopless SLO and I'm contemplating adding a Metroloop. The Metroloop is...
Agreed... but I do my own amp work.
If you're not gonna bite, PM me details and I'll give him 900 right now plus shipping... as long as the transformers are good.
Here's my Striker.
In the early 90s I replaced the PUPs and added the Kahler.
It's a decent gtr and I like the neck.
If memory serves the body is laminated.
Not sure which Bogner you have? Trying to avoid casting a wide net, but these amps are more rock borderline metal. Can a SLO do Blues, yea... but. I have a SLO and a Mark III. I've tried them and they get there partway. That's the issue, partway. I play in an aggressive Blues band, Chris...
Right now I'm playing a set of Barden Two/Tones. No Hum and little to no volume drop. Very pleased all the way around with these and especially the tone, where it matters most. Both the Neck and Bridge split with a pull-pot which provide lots of tonal combinations.
I have an Ampeg V4 straight 4x12 that's I've owned and gigged with since the late 70's. It's built like a tank. I think I paid $50 for mine in the 70s.
I wouldn't hesitate to pay $75 for one.
Have you tried the amp with different PUPs and speakers?
I wouldn't put any more $$$ in the amp.
I'm thinning the herd and switching emphasis to blues amps; I'd part with the following:
Rev 1 (Original)
Rev Jr Pro
Dorado
Mark III (Green Strip) No Reverb tank
3 Ch Dual Rectifier
The heater transformer center tap is a path to ground if the heater ever shorts to the plate, thus possibly taking out the transformer. The 100 ohm resistors do two things, ground reference the heater circuit and act like a fuse in the event of an internal tube short, hopefully sparing the...
