For the past 8 years, I have been using Friedman cabs with V30’s and Greenbacks. The sound covers the entire audio spectrum.

    A Lighter Rig…..Finally!

I am always in search of ways of keeping my same sound but bringing a lighter rig to gigs. I have two Diezel 4x12 and two 2x12 Diezel cabs that I combine based on the venue size and use with a KT77 VH4 and/or a D-Moll…..but those Diezel cabs are heavy! A month ago on a whim I bought a...

After listeNing to that clip, I would check to see if all your preamp tubes are exactly the same between the two amps….. I have two VH4’s….one has a 4004 Mullard in V1 and the other has an Engl VF in V1. Very different sounding…..

Any recs on getting my D-Moll to cut in the mix a bit better?

I had the same issue until I started using a Friedman 4x12 with two GB’s and two V30’s. The cut Was coming from the amp but I couldn’t hear it before……the dual speaker mix picks up the entire sound spectrum…..

    Preamp tubes experimenting

Try a Mullard CV4004 tube in V1…..that’s the only change I made and it worked for me…..this is assuming you have KT77’s in the power section.

    VH4 - Weird ring / noise on channels 2,3,4

My two cents……Sounds like a one bad preamp tube in sockets 2 thru 4. I would remove the preamp tube covers, power it up, and tap lightly on each tube with a pencil. If you get a really strange noise, that’s your bad tube.

    Advice Wanted

I use a VH4 and a Herbert Mk2 in tandem fed by a Lehle splitter. I’ve been using this set up for the last eight years. Great full sound! The only thing I would be careful is not to mix one amp with KT77 tubes and one with 6L6 tubes.

How to correctly connect two 2x12 cab to a Diezel VH4 head... Paralleled or series?

I had the same issue. To solve it I bought four 8 ohm speakers. In each 2x12, I wired the speakers in series which bring each cab ohms to 16 ohms.

Buying New Herbert Mk3 or Used Mk1? Tighter, Worth It?

I have owned all three versions. The mk3 had the tightest sound of all three. I currently only own the Mk2 as it has the “fuller width” sound added to every individual note. When I play a chord, it fills the space.
