I’m kind of done with the dsl. Idk why ppl say it sounds good. Sounds like boxy, cardboard shit to me personally. I never hear that tasty tone I’m looking for. Think I want to trade it for something that sounds a bit better out of the box

What are your guy’s thought on the mxr 5150 overdrive pedal? Been thinking about checking out one of those. Wondering if it works well through clean channel or used as a preamp through the dsl40 power amp. Or would you say the amp’s gain channel is better?

What about presence/resonance? How do you set the master volume/channel volume for live? Are you using the red or green (OD1/OD2) channel? Thanks!

The reason I go back to just trying to use the amp is bc its just made to be simpler. You just plug up, dial it, and let it go. Might put the fm3 aside for now

If I were to describe the kind of tone I’m trying to get the closest thing would be like sound of that Bogren Ampknob BHD 5169 plugin. If I could get my live tone to sound like that I’d be cookin!

When I run the fm3 through the return of my marshal the highs just sound so over the top, bright, brittle. Theres no tightness. It just seems tough to work with

Just a clarification, I do understand the basics of how to use the FM3 unit, but as far as dialing in tones, thats kind of where I’m lost. Seems like a billion different parameters, highly dependent on what you’re running it through, etc… That’s where I really need help. Maybe some baseline...

Honestly, I think this has a lot to do with it. I believe something wither in the rendering or the settings is making it low quality. It sounds ok in the daw. I'm using 44.1/16 at the moment. Previously 44.8/24
