Most overrated amp ever... pick 1!

I don't care much for the VH4 either...my Herberts are way better, at least for me.

Most overrated amp ever... pick 1!

Taste surely is different for different persons which is great. But to me my Splawn Quick Rod 1000 2014 is the best amp I own and ever tried. If you check my signature, you can see I own a few boutique amps. But I understand it's not for all.

Most overrated amp ever... pick 1!

This because all your technical flaws can't hide like it can on most amps. This forces you to work on your flaws. When you do, the reward is amazing.

Most overrated amp ever... pick 1!

What I've found out about the Cornfords, is that these amps can't be dialed in using your eyes. They must be dialed in using your ears. The EQ settings on my Cornfords ain't nearly the same as my other amps. For me, Victory amps is a bit to polished, as Friedman amps. But they do sound great.

Boost That Tightens + Grinds: Go

I own a Splawn Quick Rod 100 and when I want to tighten it up i use either my Suhr Koko Boost or my Rockbox Boiling Point "The old handmade swirl painted one". Every guitar player that heard my amp using either of this is amazed of how good it sounds. I also own the RC Booster but I only use it...

Most overrated amp ever... pick 1!

I'm not into "easy to play" either. That's why I love my Splawn QuickRod 100 and my Cornford MK50H and MK50 II. They hide nothing and forces you to become a better guitar player.

    Charvel vs Fender

I have a Charvel San Dimas MIM on which I replaced the Floyd Rose with the amazing Schaller Lockmeister and put on a Big Brass Block. The tone and sustain is killer. I now got a pretty good deal on a Fender Stratocaster USA from 2004. It has dings and stuff but sounds great. I've been...

    QuickRod/SuperStock Mod?

Today I own a Splawn Quick Rod 100 and I love this amp to death. But today I read that there's a Splawn SuperStoch that's a more classical sounding Quick Rod. Anyone in here tried 'em both? I mainly use Gear 1 with the gain set on 10:30-11:00, so I think a more classic version would fit me even...

    Dirty shirley love thread

I've only tried it once and I did love it. It felt awesome and sounded unbelievably good. If I have had the money at that time, I would've bought it and run it in stereo with my Smallbox on the plexi channel. By the way, the only channel I ever use on my Smallbox 😊

    Quick Rod better and better

You're asking about the 12AX7 or EL34? If it's the EL34 I know they're older, as my amp tech have them stashed and only use them on his favorite customers amps 😊

    New pickups, good or bad?

I have a Charvel San Dimas with the stock Seymour Duncan JB/59 set and I want to change them.into a set of Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Specials. My main amp is a Splawn Quick Rod 100 and I never set the gain higher than 11 o'clock. What I'm looking for is a more dynamic and responsive set with...

Remove Floyd Rose tremolo block shim?

You seem to know quite a bit about Floyds and therefore I'd like to ask you the following: I have a Charvel with a compond Radius 12-16 and what radius you think is the best for that guitar? I use a Schaller Lockmeister with a 10 radius nut and I know they do sell 12 radius as well. The...

    Quick Rod better and better

Just wanted to say that every time I plug into this amp it's getting better and better. Today I finally found the best IR's and mics to get that great Gary Moore tone from the album Run For Cover, when recording. It's amazingly good. I own and have owned so many boutique amps, just check my...

    I suck with a metronome

All you can do is practice, practice and practice. Start using really low tempo like 60bpm and work your way up in steps of 5. I know a lot will probably comment that's too low to start with, but that's a first hand recommendation from Guthrie Govan himself. Like he said: it's harder keeping a...
