Evening All,
So, today I've been using my Torpedo CAB to try and nail one of my favourite tones - Victor Griffin from 'Place of Skulls' (also 'The Obsessed' and a brief stint in British Doom leg-ends 'Cathedral'.)
The main ingredient here is rolling the guitar tone all the way off. Combing this with my Maxon OD808 for a slight boost into the Bogner Red pedal (20th anniv mode) gave me the following tone -
https://soundcloud.com/the-good-dr/in-the-vein-of-victor-griffin
It's just recorded direct from the CAB - no post processing - and yes, it's a little messy - but really captures the warmth and thick tone this pedal offers. The whole take was just me riffing away - no rhyme or reason, just a good tone to enjoy playing guitar.
As a point of reference, one of my favourite Place of Skulls tracks is 'The Fall'

Interested to know what people make of this - I'm a big fan of this huge, heavy yet bluesy tone. Hope some people enjoy it.
Cheers,
-Riff
