Which make of 12AT7 to use?

Hi, I read a post saying that if I replace the v3 valve with a 12at7 tube it would reduce some compression from the sound? I wondered what make of valve would be best for this?

Personally I would try a JAN GE 5751 first (70% gain vs. 60% of a ECC81/12AT7).

If you want to add more sparkle/treble and less mids: Telefunken or EI - ECC81
If you prefer it darker: RFT - ECC81

ECC81 = 12AT7 btw

So if I go for the RFT would that give me less mids do you think? I'm going for a Sykes type tone right now, so what would you recommend?
The whole valve thing baffles me a bit!!! The VH4 is a great amp, and i love it, but I would like to make it a bit less modern/agressive, but still retain the high gain sounds.
