Diezel VH4 content: my band's debut EP (hardcore/punk/metal)

Yea! I really love how the first rhythm chord already made me go.. "yap, that's a Diezel!". :D

I just listened back to it and thought - damn, that's so true :D These things really are amazing!

Thanks for checking us out!

Did you play an Einstein so far? What´s about your experience with the Einstein and VH4 and the differences as well?

I played an Eini and now changed to a VH4, I mostly play Punk/Rock/Hardcore...

Yeah the other guitarist in this band actually has an Einstein. Short answer: I think the Einstein is awesome! The VH4 is awesome as well and may be a bit more practical.

Longer answer: I think Einstein's "mega" mode in channel 1 actually has one of the best high gain tones ever. It's somewhat similar to VH4 channel 3 in my opinion but sounds a bit more… I don't know… modern maybe? I REALLY dig that. So if you just wanna run it as a 1-channel head more or less (like I used to do for years with my amps, just did everything with the volume pot on the guitar) I think the Einstein absolutely kills. That being said, I really like the added convenience that Midi gives you with the VH4. Especially in this band now, with some clean stuff and a solo here and there (I use channel 4 on VH4 for solos with a delay in the insert) the VH4 is a bit more practical for me. Plus it also sounds fantastic and has a few tones I think no other amp can achieve. So yeah… not sure man, I love both amps haha.

Seeing that you switched recently, what do YOU think about the differences?

Well, my experience don´t differ that much. I loved the Einstein in some ways, but after I have been recording with a VH4 I was totally stunned about the more maybe yeah- classic midrange with the Focus not to high. For example: with the Einstein I was kinda fighting with the Marshalls in my bands, know the VH4 fits in the gap between the Guitar above and the bass! I don´t have ANY Problems to hear myself in the bands right now. The Einstein has been perfect for more modern metal tones, that I don´t play that much.
And, of course, I dig that midi thing, also ;)

After all I have to say: I haven´t done anything wrong. But of course the Einstein ist one of the best amps without any (maybe) unused features and a very dynamic and useful sound. But now I have to get rid a bit of the very huge bottom end, I can´t even dial it out with the Bass/Deep, or dial in with the Mid-Poti! Maybe I have to ask Peter, if he can make the Ch3 (only, therest is fine) a bot like you use a Tubescreamer without adding gain...difficult to say, but I have not that "fast" guitars and Cabinet, but with the Maxon OD i got all I needed...but lost dynamics. So not more gain is needed, but for my personal taste a bit more clarity.

BTW. which Modell do you have? From which year, I mean...

Cool man, thanks for sharing!

Yeah I mean I don't know but my feeling is you'll be very happy with the vh4... not sure how much you did that already, but make sure to play around with the EQ quite a bit and maybe also try a few different guitars, cabs, etc. if you can. You are def. right about it "fitting" right in in a band setting and I think it does have it's own sound so maybe it's really just "getting used to it".

Oh yeah not sure if I mentioned it, mine's an 07 model I believe.

Cheers

Awesome tone and a great mix! Blasting vocals ;)

Did you mix it yourself or did you have real studio-time + specialist mix?

Again, I think this song proves the fact that VH4 crams a ton on clarity into a ton of gain. Nothing else does this,
(apart from recording guitars clean and twiddling with VST plugins + compressors & levels for hours upon hours in the studio.)

For my personal taste, Einstein is better. But, you either get clarity with modest gain, or gain with modest clarity.. also I find that CH1 and CH2 are for totally different music so, it's quite hard to set it up just as you like. Tho, Once you get it there, you'll love it!

If that all makes any sense to you :)

Thanks mate! Yeah we recorded some stuff (guitars, bass) ourselves, but had someone else record the other stuff and mix it!

I know I'm late, but just listened to that song and watched more videos in youtube and I really like your band.

The guitars sound awesome and really dig the girl vocals, both melodic and screaming.

Did you record any full album yet?

Are you planning on coming to south Germany? :D

Thank you!!

Yeah, we are actually planning a small tour to the south... probably like 3 dates down there or something. Nothing firmly booked yet, but I hope I can give specifics soon!

Any good places you'd recommend for us to play?

Cheers
Jan
