I just retubed my herbert with a sextet of Tung Sol 6L6 GC a few days ago,
and I'm simply overwhelmed.
It had some TAD 5881's (sovtek) from the previous owner that I tried mixing with 2 EL34's(Tried JJ's and also RUBY bht's) and I was looking for a cleaner sound mainly and a defined yet throaty low end.
I really can't get over how good it sounds and how everything is just spot on what I was aiming for.
I was quiet surprised when I got these at the beginning since they were so small compared to any other tube I've seen in person, but after 2 days that they got opened up it really made the amp allot more clearer, tighter and actually a very nice crunch yet it's still very defined through open chords on drop A.
I always kinda had a problem with how things sounded when I tuned to B standard but I definitely feel content about it now, everything is just punchy, clear and tight.
Definitely recommending these if any one is up for some good 6L6's, best tubes in herbert so far.
