Sound comparison kt77 vs el34 clips inside.

Umm you may want to listen again, I listened this morning and noticed something weird. I looked and I had one side down in volume a whole decibel. Now they're both the same volume HAHAHAHA. Both clips that is.

I'm old school.after a year plus with my Einy I went for vintage Mullard El-34's...for me thats the shiznit.Oh get ready for sticker schock with the Mullards ,I just got used ones. For me nothing blooms like the old glass..

Before I bought my Hagen with 77s I tested one with 34s. Prefer the latter. Will need to find some reliable ones when the current 77s get old :)

have not check the clips yet but will do soon.. anyway there are variants on EL34 tubes.. such as Tung sol El34 and TAD EL34B they have slight differences from a traditional EL34.. unfortunately the EL34 world is getting scarce now.. unless reissue Mullards , Electro harmonix (pretty dark and thicken tone ) or the expensive gold lions.. if not is pretty not much of a choice...

That is el34... Happy I went back to them

KT77 they're hairier and less grind/smoother. Still sounds great tho!

My preference is the el34 by far, just has my sound. I wish there were more reliable el34 around! I'm just going to have to risk it :)

Edit: I'm a moron and had the left side down a whole decibel... Now listen haha

Nick,

the recording level on the guitar is 2 dB lower with the KT77.
The KT77 need more gain because of the different load.

The EL34 has lower resolution, maybe that makes playing more easy.

Sorry, just got my 10000 USD studio monitors my wife paid for

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Peter

Nice Pappa!

Your wife paid for them? Does she have a sister :D ?

Thanks Pete! Yeah I think I fixed the el34 and forgot to so the 77, oops! I like them better because the single notes have a knock to them and the lower resolution appears to me as more grind I think. They seem to play the same to me though? Thank you for listening though buddy! Almost finished in the studio and I'll have some real clips up, I'm like horrible at capturing the thing any way it goes hahaha.
