little watch battery in VH4? Whats it for?

My 2001 VH4 has a small circular battery, like a watch battery, on the midi board. Anyone know what it's for? I'm wondering if it has to do with the memory of the midi settings when power is off.

Especially, since my VH4 will not memorize midi settings after it's turned off, when turned on all the info will be wiped from the previous time of playing/programming. This VH4 sat for 13 years without being turned on.
 
I replaced the battery and it works now like it should. Thanks for the help Peter. :thumbsup:
 
Damn,does the Herbert & Hagen have them as well?
Guess I need to look at my service manual

Mine work fine but didn't know that was a replaceable item
