Help Me Decide..Which One?

It's time. After 45 years of playing and having
owned every brand of amp under the sun including a Sunn,
I have decided I want a Diezel.

I first heard of Diezel when Mike Ward was the guitarist for John Hiatt.
There was this sound Mr. Ward had, damn near brought me to tears.
Recently I have watched a bunch of videos with the different Diezel amps.
There is a sound that comes through.
On the clean channel AND the overdrive channel there is a chime on top.
Almost like someone was "tinking" the tubes. At times I can hear it as if each individual string is doing it.
I can get the chime, "tink" on the clean channel of my Egnater Rebel 30 but have never, ever,
in all my years heard it on a drive channel until I started investigating Diezel.

This amp will be used exclusively in my home recording studio.
I do not play out any more.
Don't need a high wattage monster....20-30-50 watts somewhere around there.
Would like a few bells & whistle, but not really interested in doing midi programing.
Chimey clean, and that snarely bite your face off Diezel OD sound.
Emulated line out would be nice....
New? Used?

Hi Duff,

if Midi is in, you don´t have to use it.

Signal chain is always tubes, caps, resistors and relays.

Used amps are always related to service and care.
I have some bad experience with self servicing
and bad techs. If you have a good tech without
a self cheering website I can assist to get the amp
in a good condition by phone or by Skype.

The other option on a used Diezel is to send it
to Germany. This will give us a hard time concerning
custom paperwork and shipment costs.

Please send an email to: peterdiezel (at) diezelamplification (dot) com

Thanks,
Peter

I will always suggest VH4. :)

Either that or D - Moll or Lil Fokker for your needs....

Really though, as you have heard I am sure, you can't go wrong with any of them.

I'd also suggest the VH4, but based on what you've said about functionality not being a driving issue, you could look for a second-hand 50W Einstein?

i use my Herbert at home. I use it for everything, from recording, practice etc.
Im in love with the clean channel. Im in to touch style guitar and the herberts clean channel is simply amazing.

I dont have any experiance with the einstein but from what ive heard the cleans are amazing and the od also.
Ch. 2 and 3 on the herb are amazing but i have been using far less gain that i used to so i bet the einstein would do you justice.
Im also planning on buying a Schmidt in the future, def check this beast, it will have your clean channel and might have the OD your looking for.

Having a Herbert i can only recommend you a Herbert ;)

Mr Diezel, and everyone,

Thank you all for the feedback.
Mr. Diezel, thank you for the contact information and filling me in on your experiences with used amps!!!

I live 180 mile southwest of Chicago between corn, the Mississippi river, and no-where.
Did some checking and I found Makin Music in Northfield Ill is a dealer and has
the Lil Fokker and a VH4 in stock. I have dealt with these guys before.
They are a 3 hour drive.

Looks like after the first of the new year I will doing a "new gear" road trip.
I am so looking forward to this.

Again, thank you all for your time and consideration.
Have a great holiday season!!!

Herbert is a great amp for your needs. Check out this video from 7:00 on...

You don't need to use the midi functionality, just a flip of the toggles to change channels/settings.

Also, don't be swayed by the low wattage is better at home rhetoric you hear on the web. I have had micro amps (<1 watt) and lunchbox amps (5-15 watts), and all have sounded like crap when dialed low. This 180W beast has a great master volume. You can dial in great tone down to conversation level if required. You can also peel the paint off the walls, if you require some remodeling

Good luck! That is lucky for you! :)

I know I probably don't have to tell you, but all pots to noon, volume to taste and a nice guitar without emgs (not that emgs are bad... just not for the initial test haha) and strike a fat fuckin' chord. I didn't get to try a Diezel before I got my VH4, but this was the first thing I did when she arrived and it was smile factor×The speed of light.  have to experience it.
