Having recently purchased Herbert #001/001, (and loving it) I'm inclined to ask if there have been any updates over the years that I should look for in this unit. Thanks for any help you can provide!
David

nice buy  but there have been recent changes. the herbert MK2 has different transformers and there is something different with the clean channel

Thanks for the reply(yup, I'm happy as can be with this sweet thing!).
I DO remember now, reading about a transformer upgrade to improve input headroom for hotter pups(doesn't worry me) as I scoured the search results. I thought maybe there were other, subtler tweaks.... We shall see what turns up.
Thanks again!
David

Nice buy! Is that in fact Herbert #1? Or just #1 for a certain batch?

That is way cool man. I thought I was cool with #18. :inlove: I would also like to know the differences. I heard that the older ones were tighter, more focused. Don't know how true that is.

This beast is amazingly tight. It's making me up my game as a player, it's so articulate.
I'll grab some snaps when I'm home from work and post 'em.
Cheers,
David

Clean channel even cleaner!? I am intrigued! I guess I'll have to pester The Master.
Thanks for the tip!
David

Here are some photos of Herbert #1 The last pic shows my version of the channel 2 +/- mod.... started by using the 4 ohm output jack, but decided to relay-switch it in the amp and sneak the control voltage on the DIN connector/MIDI cable to my ADA MC-1 pedal w/ a dedicated switch installed. Seems to work fine.

I don´t know...im not Peter Diezel, but i think this is not the very first Herbert?!?! I thought the front panel is different?!

Red! Ithink I like it!
I dunno... I was told this unit was shown at NAMM.
In any case, it kicks!
Thanks Peter!

I thought the first one had white tolex and was owned by Peter Diezel himself.

wouldn't that be the first one in the production side not the prototype side?

It has the same faceplate as my Herbert protype so it's likely indeed the first retail-herbie shipped.
Cool to see the prototype version of the faceplate carried over to the first couple of retailversions :)
Nice find

imo keep this amp and do not change anything. it could turn into a collectos-item someday.
