I've been looking at these Fortin Randalls since they came out so I finally pulled the trigger on the Satan. I'm doing the 12 payment plan with no interest so I can save for a Fortin Bones in the meantime. It's been a few years since I've been able to buy gear so I'm excited!!

Enjoy man! The Satan is a wicked amp. To my ears a fuller sounding, more versatile 6505. Amazing sounding amps!

So my Satan arrived today and it looks bad ass. The Randall logo on the front is metal and not plastic. I was a little worried it was going to be plastic. The red lights are cool, I guess. I started with the clean channel and I was very surprised how good it sounds. I've read reviews that the clean is good, but to me, it's really good and easy to dial in. The distortion channel took me a bit to get it close to the sound I like. This is a bright sounding amp so I have the treble at 9:00 and presence at 10:00. This amp likes the channel volume up more than most amps. I have it at about 2:00. The gain is tricky with the 3 knobs (girth, grind, gain). I ended up with the gain maxed, girth at around 10:00 and grind at 2:00. I'm in standard E so a little more girth still sounds focused. The Kill mode is really cool and adds even more aggression and gain. This mode sounds good but needs a noise gate to tame it. The whole amp has this really clear sound and underlying tones that just kick so much ass. It must be the Fortin DNA because my Grind pedal has the same type of attack and clarity to it. Anyway, I'm happy with the amp. I love NAD's!

Do you think it's possibly designed around drop tuning far below that of Drop D? Is that mYbe where the bright amp starts to get some bass meat? Just a question. Not sure if you have a 7 string or a long scale to drop way down to test this.

Congrats man, I'd love to get my hands on one of these and see what they're about personally.. enjoy!

I looked at the Fortin Randalls myself, nearly bought the KH103. These are not the Randalls of old, hope you like it!

Happy NAD

I gave these a little looksy when they hit the market but never pulled the trigger.

Bright huh, bet it sounds even better down at drop C :D

You gettin on with it without a clean boost up front? I've read these are pretty tight and have enough attack without one. Only amp I've owned/played so far I didn't need to boost is the Engl Savage 120.

Enjoy it!

Yeah, I have a 7 string I need to try with the amp.

The amp doesn't need a boost once dialed in correctly. That's the main reason I wanted this amp and that Mike Fortin designed it.

This is exactly how it seems to be designed. A buddy just offed his because he could;t jive with how bright it was. He tunes to drop C# and tried it with a few different cabs. I wish I got a chance to give it a go before he sent it back.

Nice! Can't say I'm gassin for a Satan right now, but I would definitely like to give one a work over.

A bunch of other amps I've owned were raved about because of how tight they were stand alone, but I found the opposite when I played em. I do like a ridiculously tight, fast tracking low end and a ton of aggressive attack in the mids though and seem with most amps to only get that with a TS type boost out front. Pickups obviously play a big part to. I guess that's why I dig the Painkiller bridge so much. It really helps add those elements especially if the amp already has some of those attributes to begin with.

Interesting, they have great clarity, but i didn't fnd it particular bright. Perhaps because i was running it through a Vader 4x12, with guitars in both Drop B and Drop C.

To the OP - Keep having a play around with it all dude! Keep trying new things, try doing things like mixing up the low end, and then the high end. For instance, roll of the bass and crank up the girth, then roll the girth off and crank the bass. Get a feel for how the difference EQ adjustments work. Obviously try the same with the grind/treble/prescence. We all have different gear and different musical opinions regarding what tone we like, but i'd try rolling the gain off a fair bit and maybe turn up the prescence a little more. Try lots of things, it's a brilliant amp and can do many things! Enjoy!

For sure man. There are a lot of different sounds to get out of this thing. I haven't got a chance to open up the volume that much, but I'm looking forward to cranking this amp. It's really fun to experiment with different settings and all of the knobs ranges are mostly usable. Crazy amp.

looks like a lot of people age getting into these SATAN amps....must be pretty sweet
