Why didn't you people tell me how incredible the UL is????? The high gain tones are stellar. I was able to play leads with ease and the amp is super tight. What really surprised me is how nice the clean channel sounds. I've read that this amp is dry and difficult to shred on. I am far from a great player yet i found it really easy to play leads through. Sounded sweet and saturated yet clear and tight. I'm confused as to why this amp doesn't get talked about more here?????

VHT owners please feel free to post your VHT vids here

Thanks! In my younger days I used to write epic masterpieces & trilogies that were super long...than I gravitated towards writing the 3:30 "hit" for my live performing bands. Now on the net, I seem to be writing tunes that have 1 or 2 riffs and are over in 1:15, lol!
In a few years I'll be doing the SOD Jimi Hendrix ballad-style of writing

How's that VHT in person? It must bring the thunder!

Played Hard n Heavy's UL through one of his Diezel 4x12s. Super impressed with how despite a lot og gain the amp was still clear and tight. All you ever read about VHTs is how "dry" they sound. Do not understand that description at all. This amp sounded sooooooo damn nice. The clean channel was unreal.

Can you give us an A/B vid of their highgain tones? Which do you prefer and why?

I love my U-L!
Can the Sig X cop the UL 's high gain tones?
No Way!

Also, you shouldn't be surprised that this amp is great for leads (it's called "ultra lead" for a reason), but IMO my Soldano SLO is still a notch above for playing leads and single most note riffage. Also, like you said people HIGHLY exaggerate how dry the amp is (aka retarded desert analogies) and with a boost of some sort you should have no issues with dryness.

I have owned the SLO and while it is an incredible lead amp I prefer the UL to it. Both have elite lead tones but the UL has a fuller tone to my ears and a way nicer clean channel. Plus the SLOs loop is picky. From what I've read the VHT's fx loops are transparent

One of the only amps never modified!
 yeah I can't see what there is to tweek. Sounded so nice all the way through the channels.

Here's a video I did with a cheap camera, off-axis. RC Booster is on until 1:00, and delay is a Carbon Copy. Amp is set to "Less" mode...

the ultra lead is a fantastic amp, i really love the built in eq.
im also a fan of the feel of this amp, very tight. way too much being said about the dryness, i understand why people say it and it could be that its got so much clairty that it seems dry to some people, theres plenty of gain but its really clear sounding compared to other amps. i owned 2 of them over the years and someday plan on getting another one, i really liked it with the vht deliverance cab.

Been a few years since I had a VHT UL but a few things I remember.
It really gels with a VHT 4x12
Tightest amp I have ever had.
Decent cleans.

PT100 is a lot looser(depending on feedback control setting) and has more "feel" to it,better clean channel.
isnt as finicky as the VHT with speaker/cab selection.

Was the DIEZEL cab you used front loaded?

I believe. I played the PT 100 in July and really dug it. The UL also has really impressed me. Surprised you feel the clean tones are only "decent". I thought the cleans were great!
