OK folks... Here is a short clip I put together of the Henning Bottle Rocket 50 watter.

For those not following the Stone Block thread...

Henning Bottle Rocket Heavy and Guitar Volume Rolloff Clean Clip

Both the clean and the heavy were recorded with the same settings on the amp, I just turned the volume down on the guitar to get the clean. Cleans up nice!

Recorded with a Royer R-121 close mic'd into my Great Rivers Pre. First time I've recorded with the R-121 and man, I dig it! Dirty part is doubled (poorly! )

Settings (You can see there is a ton more gain on tap!):

Holy shit!! What a great clean up!! That was a very aggressive dirt sound and the volume roll off made it beautiful. Put a boost in line for the dirty sound and I'm betting that amp will go well into modern gain territory. GAS GAS GAS GAS GAS GAS

Look at the setting - there is a LOT more gain on tap! I don't thing you'd need a boost for modern gain...

Oh, BTW - this clip was made with a guitar that has low output OX4 PAF clones in it - 8.3K bridge, 7.5K neck. Heavy was the bridge pickup, Clean was the neck pickup.

I am actually looking more forward to what you have to "SAY" about Stone tone block.
since you have used a big brass block for a while now and play the same guitars as i do
your comments will cover what i need to know

Sounds really good as mentioned but is that a sort of cocked wah sound you got going there? Am I the only one hearing that or is it mic placement? Never heard that in any of your other clips.

This is right up my alley. Sounded like Carves His Stone on cleans. Nice!

Dunno man - I just stuck the mic there and dug the way it sounded. It's the same mic position and same amp settings for the clean and heavy. All I did was turn down the guitar volume. Doesn't sound like a cocked was to me, but everybody hears things differently. I used the Bright switch on the second gain stage and that definitely gives the amp a different sound than my other clips, but as I said, same settings and mic position for clean and heavy.

Thanks man - looking forward to hearing what you think of the two different preamps!

I am not sure about cocked wah ,its got a strong prominent upper mid . I like it
I hear tons of bands in that ,Dokken -kiss of death, and Loudness are 2 that come to mind
clean was great to for an overdrive ch

Wow, that exceeded my already high expectations! I can't wait to play this thing!!!

I guess that is what I am hearing... sort of a furman EQ thing going on where the upper mids are emphasized. Anyway, sounds great either way and i look forward to hearing more at diff gain levels. Let's see some crunch and just dirty mid gain sounds next or a video demoing the various settings/switches would be cool.
