reverb sellers...

Find a sweet green Music man Axis tribute for a great price, send an offer and the guy sends a counter and I accept. I figure Ill send payment in an hour or so when I get home from work. Dude sends me a message maybe 45 minutes after I ACCEPT his offer saying he found a private seller and cancels my order. What has happened to integrity these days? I explain to him that we had a deal and I accepted his terms and hear nothing...Send him another message saying I am reporting to reverb to pursue negative feedback/possible suspension of selling for this and still nothing... So I contact reverb, they go through everything and say I can't leave feedback since the transaction was canceled but they find it odd it took so long after the accepted offer and are now looking into what they are going to do about the seller.
It just pisses me off as an honest buyer/seller myself when you run into fucking douchebags like this. Guy clearly got a better offer after mine and even though we technically had a deal he breaks it...fuck I wanted that one too

Yeah that's super lame. I hope Reverb finds a way to remove him from the marketplace for that...actually, I think allowing negative feedback would be even more productive in this case. I've sold a number of things on Reverb, and take pride in getting 5-star reviews for my sales. (However, only 2 out of the last 5 transactions even bothered to leave feedback, WTF?) Reverb is an awesome resource, and bad sellers like this will ultimately raise Reveb fees (someone's gotta deal with the BS, and get paid for their time).

Yeah it is lame. He counter you with an offer and then cancel it because he found a private buyer.

Should have paid the man when you accepted the offer! Kinda works both ways, buyers suck sometimes too. When I make an offer that's accepted, I pay. IMMEDIATELY. You had time to browse & make offers, but paying wasn't a priority?

If you have time to press the button to "accept offer", you've got time to "pay now". That's kinda how it works. Who's to say this guy hasn't been burnt from non-payers? Buyers back out and not pay too, you know.

You sound like a spoiled baby. Paying for it would have avoided all the drama.

dude, go fuck yourself, I drive tractor trailers for a living and was literally stopped for a drink and accepted the offer through my email. And I just checked the time stamps, it was 20 minutes after the accepted offer that he canceled the transaction.Had to wait to move money from different accounts so no, I didn't have time to pay now. I have perfect feedback on every forum and every selling outlet for a reason, because I have integrity and believe in my word.

Did you pull over for an hour complaining to Reverb? Get some anger management. Starting threads with colorful language shows your true colors. :loco:

No I'm home now, local ltl for Old Dominion. Don't know how someone backing out of something makes me sound like a spoiled baby but thats the internet I guess

The opposite happened to me. I saw an amp on Reverb and messaged the seller. We began texting back and forth. We made a deal and I sent payment. About ten minutes after I paid and he said he was going to ship , he texted me where someone bought it and paid on Reverb after I paid. I told him to cancel the guy but he wouldn't. He was worried about getting trashed where he thought the buyer might be on a forum. He refunded me immediately. I still thought it was shitty. He should have ended his listing immediately after I paid or honored our deal.

Because, you kicked and screamed like a baby with poopy diapers. I'm sure there's more to the story, here. I just believe 10 minutes could have "moved money" and had it paid for, that's all I'm saying. I have 66 transactions on Reverb, 80+ on Ebay, 45 on TGP, and several here, all positive. I probably dealt with 300 flakes too.

So its my fault the guy couldn't wait more than 20 minutes. If you had to pay immediately then it would make you. Do you drive trucks as well? No, then don't act like you know about the time constraints about moving freight either, 10,20,30 minutes in ltl is big. No more to the story than what I posted, want a pic of the messages? Dude, I'm pissed because some douche agreed to a transaction then canceled it, that's it. This forum is a fucking joke at this point anyways, don't know why I post here anymore

Just because he would have paid doesn't guarantee that the seller still wouldn't have backed out. Then he would have to fight to get his money back. To me it sounds like the guy had sellers remorse. I seriously doubt he had another buyer just like that in an hours time.

I'd bet most people would agree that paying an hour after making the deal is not only acceptable, but totally on par with a 5-star buyer. Even if the seller had been burnt in the past, you can't justify his actions as stated by the OP. Sure, there are two sides to every story, believe who you want.

I agree the "colorful" language is unnecessary, especially for a topic title.

And on another note, a friend of mine found a REALLY old Recto on Reverb at a crazy cheap price. He hit the buy i now option and paid, but was contacted by the seller saying sorry, they sold it to someone else. They also had the amp on Ebay. And Reverb did NOTHING in that situation. You can use Reverb's site but they are useless when you need customer support.

I like how you added that in there after the fact. The colorful language for you attacking me and calling me a spoiled baby, justified. And don't act like you know who I am, Ive sold to plenty on this very forum who will back my transactions.

Not even, no way...The buyer accepted the sellers counter offer, they had a deal. At that moment the buyer was bound to purchase the item, and the seller to sell it to him. As a seller, you don't pull the rug out because the buyer hasn't paid yet after 45 minutes. He fucked him. Total dick move...

They're a joke. Nice enough but do not do crap. They just send you to Paypal after wasting your time assigning a specialist to handle your case. Took about 5 days. The specialist explained to me how to file a Paypal claim. I knew more than he did about it. I could have filed my own claim five days sooner. Here I am thinking they have control like Ebay does. Nope.

I'm not saying it's your fault for anything. I'm not taking the seller's side, either. I see your point, and I'm not saying I wouldn't be upset either, I probably would be. My point is, (one of them, anyway), is paying immediately is how I roll, and anyone who has the time to browse, haggle, and accept offers, has time to PAY NOW.

My other point, I guess, is, is a guitar really worth losing sleep over? You still have your money, and I bet a better deal finds you.

Devils advocate here. For reverb, Gotta think, what can they do? They can't make someone ship or pay or anything really except kick them off reverb, then they lose revenue. So if no one loses money or product, one party is just upset they didn't get to spend money, why would they risk future revenue?
