I never got along with diezels either.

love or hate and that makes sense. The ONLY choice for me.
 
I also sold my VH4s because the compression on channels 3 and 4. Channel 2 was pretty open but was just a bit too mellow. It needed just a bit more gain and something like more treble or aggression. Maybe the Big Max is what I'd want?
 
There are almost no clips on YouTube of this amp. is there someone kind enough to take a quick video, going through the different tones?
 
VH4 Channel 2 was my favorite channel on the amp. Took overdrives really well. Just really balanced and with loads of clarity across the strings. I used CH3 & 4 less & less over time.
