Boogie Mark III Coliseum incoming

You're making me blush, man, but I suppose there aren't that many old school big racks around these days.

Yeah, I think you're right about there not being too many old school racks around anymore. I think that's a shame. They sound so good... nothing I've heard so far even comes close. I've got one myself and am working on a second. It's just too much fun! Especially with a great Boogie in the mix! Love my Mark III... bet that Coliseum is amazing!!

For sure, once you have a good rack dialed in there's just no beating that stereo processing from proper studio-grade units. As for the Coliseum, I'm really digging it so far! It has a mean edge to it, being a blue stripe and all, but it´s definitely not excessively bright or harsh. Very punchy.

Agree 100%

Just as a salute to the similar tastes we share, my addition to the gear porn pic: Mine is a no stripe MKIII Coliseum w/ Simul-Class that I bought new back in '86. It's been a work horse for me, and I still love it!

Zach, my man! Good to see you, it´s always a pleasure to meet up with guys from the old HRI gang. I had actually forgotten that you had that Boogie, but when I looked around the web before buying this one I found your old posts on it.

Aloha! I LOVE your rig! I smile every time I see it. GREAT to see you too, keeping the flame alive.

I bought my coli back in '86 and it's still great. One of these days I'm going to get a wood/wicker shell for it.

I just bought my first blue stripe mark 3+ and can't wait to get it. I gotta say Zachmaster, your gear is epic brah...huge Aloha there!!!

Aloha, and thanks. It's been a lifetime in the making, and re-making, and re-re-making lol to get this rig happily sorted and completed.

Now, I have to make a smaller scaled down medium and small rig.

Congrats on the blue stripe.

Zach, what Fender amp is that in your rig ? And what specific tones do you use it for ? Is it cleans or SRV type dirty/clean ?

It used to be an original '65 Super Reverb combo, that the previous owner put into this bastardized shell. One day, I'll get a nice head shell for it. I use it for clean tones. John Suhr replaced the original OT w/ one that takes a 16, 8, and 4 Ohm tap.

When the distortion tones start, I switched to the Cameron Atomica

Thanks man, it puts a smile on my face every day too :) And yours is of course the stuff of legend at this point!

Ohh, yeah, I would love at least a wicker front for mine. Do you call up Boogie to get those or do you know if anyone else makes replacements too?

Actually, I'd be curious about that, too. I've wanted to get a head shell for both my Mk.III and Mk.IV for awhile, but haven't looked into it too much, yet, other than the rack mount kits Mesa sells. I've always loved those wood & wicker cabs.

I'd just go directly to Boogie, though I do see shells for the MKIII long chassis on eBay every now and again.
