Atomic Amplifire?? Any users?

I need something that sounds good for quiet stuff, probably headphones. I have a Cube 20, but it sounds like shit through headphones.

I need something higher quality, but not stupid price. The Amplifire sounds pretty damn good, but not sure how it does with headphones. Anybody have any insight, or suggestions on what else would do? Good high gain models are a must. I had an RP1000 that I really liked for messing around, but, it too sounded like shit with headphones.

$500 is my budget.

The only way anything can sound possibly acceptable is with really good, i mean not beats, headphones. Any entry level headphones make them all sound the same. IMO

I picked up a FireBox a couple of weeks ago and I really like it. Grab some different cab sims and it'll sound a million times better than it does with the stock IR's.

Amplifire-box sounds incredible and you definitely don't need expensive headphones. I use AKG M80 Mkii's mainly , and Presonus HD7's. Both sound killer and 1 cost 50.00 tops and the other about 28.00. I have original AKG 240m's and others for my old studio but never have even thought about using them as these cheap ones sound so great with it.

I also found some 'free ir's' available on the net that I like better than many of the stock ir's. Easy as hell to program and sounds killer.

You talking about the stompbox??

I'm selling one for $400 shipped if you're interested. I'm the original owner and it's in perfect shape, just don't use it much.

They sound great with headphones (I use Senh 280s). IRs make a big difference to me...I've got a Scumback M75 Ir that's my fave.

Satchel uses an Amplifire for all his live tone, FWIW, and IMHO his sound has always been pretty great. They're a bargain.

I had the 3-button AF. I was pretty underwhelmed and as an interface, it's way behind the curve from a "plug n play" standpoint - at least for someone coming from AX8, 11R, Pod, HeadRush, and Helix background. It sounded okay. Some guys really have it dialed though. I had some Michael Britt profiles that came with it and those were really good.
