1983 JCM800 100w with my R/T Plexi Mod - A 2203 that I converted over to a 1959 Plexi circuit with my R/T Plexi Mod.

Thank you kindly sir!!

This amp head doesn't belong to me, I just modded it for a customer.
I wish I owned it though. :D

That sounds awesome! Does it have a Resonance/Depth Control or is this just simply a gain change?

Thank you!!

No this amp doesn't have a Res/Depth control in it.
It basicly has a PPIMV with my style "one wire mod" and also a few preamp circuit tweaks to voice the sound.

Sounds gainier with the Les Paul for sure. It's kind of a static old school gain though. I think I liked these clips a bit less than some of your others. I think in a lot of cases, I prefer a boosted JMP/2204 over trying to squeeze more gain out of the circuit. I think amp to amp the mod might work a bit better due to components and drift in their values?

Most of these JCM800's have those film capacitors which I don't like.
They are very aggressive sounding and don't have the purity of an old mustard type cap.
I recommended to the customer to swap them with Mustards but he was happy with the way it sounded as is.
The other thing I recommended was to change the sterile sounding filter caps and lower some of the values down like in an old Marshall plexi to give it that crunchy sag.
He said he might go for mod that later on. :)

Hey Mike! Sounds great like always!

In the videos, it sounds like the tone has more emphasis than a normal 2203. I personally like having a lot of bite to my tone, but it almost sounds like the high mids are shifted up a little higher than normal. Do you think that's a byproduct of the video, or is the tone in the videos a good representation of what you hear in person?

Kind of on the same topic, what pickups are you running in your LP?

It' sounds a little better in person but it's basicly what it sounds like if you were in the room with me.
I was using a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge of the Paul.
I've since swapped it out my a Burstbucker 3.
I think it suits the guitar better with a nice balance between the lead and rhythm tones.
