PSA for multi guitar racks or stands, get an UltraCase

Seriously this is one thing that makes me cringe.

Thousands of dollars of guitars on one of those rickety stands, I get it, one of our esteemed members was able to make it much better by putting his jerk-off towels at the base. :scared:

Seriously, I know you think you maybe saving 2-300 dollars by not buying one of these but there is a reason why most major touring acts and musicians use these:

http://www.ultracase.com/gsx-series.html

I have two GSX-8s and I actually got them both used so I saved a little bit of money but I would never trust my guitars to one of those flimsy Warwick Rockstands or similar products on the market.

In fact I know a guy who had a bunch of expensive Les Paul customs, dog ran by and collapsed his stand and did over a few thousand in damage to his LPs. All because he did not want to spend the extra 2-300 on the UltraCase like I recommended, you know to protect his 15k worth of guitars. Think about it, an average custom shop Jackson/Charvel or Gibson is 2500-5k. You have a stand for at minimum 4 to 5 of these. That's an easy 10k or more in value you have on the line. Why sell out the risk for 2 to 300 dollars?

If you have a bunch of nice guitars that you actually play regularly and don't always want to put back in the case get one of these UltraCase stands. Don't risk your nice stuff to one of these rickety stands.

Also if you plan on ordering a UltraCase and you have flying V's just call and request the Kerry King specs and that way the base will be wide enough for the V's you have.

So remember the saying buy once cry once.

I agree, it drives me crazy to see people spend thousands of dollars on guitars only to then buy a $75 multi stand to put them on, I have a GSX-4( thats got around 20,000 sitting in it) but im planning on getting at least one maybe 2 GSX-8's(keeping an eye out for used but ill buy new if not). I'm fortunate that my guitars stay in a closed door room thankfully that no-one but me goes into.

Kauer makes some pretty cool home studio stands too.

I've had an Ultra case for over ten years. I absolutely love it. I would buy another tomorrow if anything ever happened to it.
Like you said, thousands of dollars worth of guitars sitting in it.

I woud still rather have an UltraCase looks to be the same price and I can fit Vs and fold up my UltraCase and move it if I need to in the trunk of my car. Plus the back side is protected on the Ultracase not open like the DRS racks.

I need one of these, everybody complains there's no place to sit because I have guitars lying all over. But I'm stuck on 4 vs 6. 4 looks better for taking out (which I almost never do lol) but 6 looks like it would work better since my acoustic is always out plus 3-5 other electrics in various tunings. First world problems.

I agree - great cases and worth the coin - especially if you can get them used - I had a 4, 6, and 8 when i toured more often...
I still have the 6 , and have an Armadillo 5 space for the home studio (nearly as good as the Ultracase)
