Well I have been dying to do something again and can't image topping our High Gain Shootout, so I'm taking it in another direction.
I want to do a song with everyone on Rig-Talk that wants to have a solo on it. kind of Hear'n'Aid style.

I'm using the song from the shootout 'Around The World In 30 Days' because the solo section is perfect for this and can be looped forever... Anyway I attached the file with a click (122 bpm), there's a few bar build up and then the band kicks in, that's the solo section. You can do a lead in riff and lead out riff, the solo section ends when the vocals come in but you can let a note hang over obviously. Track yourself with whatever recording gear you have and send or post up your solo, let us know what you used. PLEASE make all guitar solo files be the same starting point as the rough music file so it's easy for me to just grid it in.

REMEMBER SEND ONLY THE GUITAR SOLO ON THE FILE, NOT MIXED WITH THE BACKING TRACK, WE WILL MIX IT HERE!

Please don not post the tracks on this thread, only email them to me.

I think this is a cool opportunity for us to have some fun and hear each other play side by side. Everyone's solo will be used! I will have a world class mixer mix it and post it with a list of who played what solos. Try to send 24 bit aiff or wavs. I think the tune is in C#.

Go for it!

It's up to you, have fun with it just remember we can't take away delay/verb.

Link works now, sorry.

Hey James-

Very cool idea...and I dig that tune

What's the deadline? I'd like to figure out a way to get in!

Awesome man, I should be able to throw something together. Thanks for the jam!

Hey James,

what formats can you take (i.e. mp3, wav, etc.)?

This is gonna be cool, post up on here when you're doing your solo, what guitar, amp, cab, mic, pre, DAW etc you're using.

Anything, the better the res the better. 24 bit aiff or wav would be best.

Count me in. I'll work on it this weekend. Just listened to the track. This should be fun!

2 takes cut together into one..,Rahbek Tele into the laptop via Motu interface with a Uaudio UAD2.

heres mine,

I tracked plugged strait into the amp and added a little delay after in protools. I double tracked the intro, then it goes to 4 tracks then back to 2 and then ends with 4 tracks.

the mic was an Audix D3 on a cameron 4x12 cab (h30 / cl80 x pattern) I miced up the CL80 speaker because its nice and smooth for leads

Mic pre - Golden age pre 73 (neve 1073 copy)
Interface - Black Lion Audio Signature modded 002
Protools 7.4
Guitar - Carvin Dc127 w/ aldrich bridge and duncan 59 neck
Amp - Cameron Aldrich Modded plexi

Enjoy!
