I thought Robbin Crosby died of aids?

While Robbin contracted the AIDS virus from sharing needles, it was a Heroin overdose the finally killed him. Depending on who you hear it from, Robbin knowingly shot enough to take his own life because he did not want to wilt away.

Who knows for sure...

Everybody already said it, but damn! I love Jake and hope he gets his shit straightened out. Bark at the moon, Rock and Roll rebel, Shot in the Dark, all the badlands stuff. Damn good stuff.

Sad stuff for sure, but I heard he's been a junkie for a long time now. I heard he and most of the Badlands band were shooting heroin back, so him being an addict is not new news. Wouldn't be surprised to hear it went back to the Ozzy days since drugs were probably available like M&M sitting in a candy dish.

But as other's said, at some point you need to man up and make a decision as to how you want to live your life. Guess he chose drugs, trailers, and strippers - not the 1st one to go down that road...

Quick question....
Why was Jake out of Ozzy?
I never followed it that much back in the day.
Ultimate Sin was such a killer album too.
From what i last read,Ozzy kicked him out when he was blown out, going crazy like he has
so many times.Drunk,stoned etc.
And when the dust settled,Jake didn't wanna come back to that.To have it happen again.

I read somewhere, I think on his website, that Ozzy asked Jake to come back in '94 when Zakk was doing Pride and Glory, but Jake declined the offer.

Jake unlike Randy really didn't know how to handle Ozzy and writing with him. Where Randy would bring things out of Ozzy, .
bob daisley wrote about 99% of the lyrics off the first 2 albums
Bob did more than that...he also wrote most of the lyrics for the BATM album and was pretty much Ozzys ghost writer for albums after than until the lawsuit got heated. I meant musical ideas in terms of writing...not lyrics.

That's why when they remastered / re-released the old discs and they hired studio musicians to play his parts so they could try to screw him out of royalty $$.

Bob Daisley was involved behind the scenes, even played bass on the "No More Tears" album.

Yeah, I'm still suprised Ozzy didn't get more heat from that fiasco...I remember my friend bought one of the CD's, we were listening to it and I flat out said something is very wrong here. A bit later we all found out what Ozzy did. Why? $$$. I guess sometimes enough is not enough. Honestly I've never really had much use for Ozzy after that.

The last thing I heard about him was he was hosting a heavy metal show at a club in a casino off the strip in Vegas.

Jason

Place and name of show if you know???

If this stuffs true that's a bummer. I always loved jakes phrasing and playing in general. I always thought his playing was better than a lot of other guitarists like there's something unique about him technically, I dunno. It sucks either way, in that picture of him smiling he looks the same way as my dad when he takes his dentures out   Poor bastard....

This is what I read.
This was posted on the Metal Sludge messageboard on 9/24:

So I am standing in Texas Station (a casino here in Vegas) last night waiting for my wife and as I roam around the casino for the first time a sign catches my eye. It is for a little lounge at one end of the casino and on weekends they have bands in there. Well this friday night is metal night and it is hosted by Jake E Lee! I could not beleive this, the one time guitar player for Ozzy and Badlands is now reduced to hosting a metal night in a way off the strip cowboy themed casino???

Also found this link don't know if he's host or just did one show there. You'll need to do a find on page for Jake.

Dang I missed him by one day ! The wife, kids and I were there just in Sept too but got there on Friday and left on Wednesday.

First time we stayed at the Palace Station too. Far better treatment, rooms and service than the Stratosphere.

I will be back in Feb. I hope to catch him if he is still there.

Pearcy and demartini were recently on "that metal show" and said they talk to him occasionally and always invite him onstage when they are in Las Vegas on tour. I think there is a youtube vid of Jake outside a nightclub hanging out...he does not appear as fat as in those posted pics. Hopefully he gets his act together.

That second vid of him playing is from their Dag the Giblits video. It's good video with interviews behind the scenes video shoot and live performance shots.

The place where Jake appeared last year was Texas Station. A friend of a friend had set the appearence up, so I got to hang with the guitar god for a couple hours. There was literally no one there. 25 people total, and 95% of them didnt know who Jake was. Was he buzzed? Yes, but was drinking scotch in moderation. Still smokes like crazy. He didnt seem like he was on anything, but who knows? As introverted as Jake is said to be, he was more than willing to answer questions, tell stories, etc...I guess his confidence level is low and doesnt practice much any more. The good news is, lately he has been out in public more in LV than he has been in years. I have been a HUGE Jake fan for 25 years, and was not disappointed when I met him. Great guy with a ton of great stories!

Here is Jake jamming in November 09 in Vegas, pics and Video courtesy of a fellow fan from the Jakeelee.com site.
