Telecasters are just incredible.

Best decision I ever made was to buy my CS Nocaster. I'm pretty much addicted to everything about it. The tone, playability, looks, everything. In short, I'm now mad about Teles! They just do so, so much from two pickups and a three-way and sound incredible doing it. All this from basically a neck bolted onto a plank!

Any fellow Tele aficionados here?

Not to take away from your love and passion WHATsoever, as I am a complete and utter advocate of the "to each their own" mentality, but of ALL the guitars out there in this world, the Tele's are the one that I cannot stand the sight of.

The look of the standard butterscotch Tele with maple neck makes me want to hurl. No offence, and I'm speaking with a lot of ignorance as I've never even brought myself to try playing one, but ya, I just think they're hideous.

Absolutely! A neck bolted onto a plank of wood. Got it so right the first time, so many years ago.

It's more versatile then my strat or double coil guitars. Amazing cleans and sounds just great with gain. I could walk in with just a tele for any gig I'm on.

I wouldn't have considered buying a tele 10 years ago...tastes change, get more open to change.
You're not ready...yet. ;)

I just watched a special recently that said Leo Fender had to come out with the Stratocaster to compete with the beauty of the Les Paul, the Tele was just too ugly.
LOL

It's the ugly guitar that could.

the sound is killer but they are kind of brutal looking IMO
You mean the bridge looking like an old sardine tin, the three simple screws on the bridge that hold the string intonation and the half a headstock and the pickup selector being to close to the volume knob...it's crude, it's beautiful.

I tell you, from trying a bunch of them out at music stores, you really have to weed through them to find the good sounding one...more so than strats.

know what you mean, 10 years ago i wouldn't have touched a tele, now i can't mine down. and not just for the sounds, it looks awesome. it is a kotzen tele, but its made me gas after a 50's style butterscotch and balck guard..

This is ugly. Looks like someone's about to go on stage with Elvis.

Best part about that is the Nocaster pickups. The neck pickup on its own is pretty worthless, but that middle position is killer!

Love my Tele as well. Owned many Strats over the years and sold them all. Teles rule. No middle pickup = major win.

Love strats too, but I hate that middle pickup's placement..always hitting it with my pick.

For me tele's are really hit and miss, as far as looks go. Like stated above, some of the finishes mixed with the hardware makes them look pretty ugly. I guess I'm more of a "super-tele" kind of guy.

If this G&L had a maple neck it'd be the sex.

Nice!

I think of my Wolfgang as a sort of 'super tele'...it's shaped more like that than anything else.

I think teles are beautiful, especially the traditional butterscotch finish ones, and one pickup esquire and nocasters. I still want one in the worst way. I also like the flowered and paisley ones. They are awesome in every which way....and don't forget, it was a tele that took out Jack Butler!

yes, that 2 & 4 position strat tone is really over-rated

Love 2 & 4 but the middle pickup position bums out my picking.

Had one just like this a few years ago but it had an ebony board. I loved that thing. Some cocksucker stole it. :codeak:
