Whats everyones thought on the Digitech bad monkey? Anyone?

I just got one from a friend as he never used it, not used it or heard about it myself but gonna have a play around with it tonight.

I really like mine. I've had it for three years now and still use it quite a bit. I run it on my clean channel to get classic/hard rock tones and also sometimes as an overdrive to push my gain channel. Very versatile pedal and pretty transparent. Experiment with it and enjoy your new pedal!

I don't use any pedals, so take this with a grain of salt

I suggested one to a buddy for his kid, based on positive reviews; I plugged it in to show him how to set it up, and I was pretty impressed! Sounded really good! I think they're about $40

Seemed like a good deal, to me

I got mine back whan it was 29 bucks! I gotta tell ya, that thing can hang with any of my booteek pedals. It works exceptionally well in front of my JCM800 - the bass control is worth the price of admission alone.

I like mine a lot too. It does eat batteries however. But it's a pretty cool pedal.

I used to have a Bad Monkey, overall a really nice pedal, I thought it was better as a boost than as an overdrive into a clean amp...

I always keep a bad monkey in the collection, they are GREAT, especially with a Marshall DSL or Mesa Recto.

I let a friend borrow mine and he pulled the battery leads out while removing a battery. Wonder if it will still work if I plug it into my PP2?

For starters, slap your friend until he gives you $50 for a new one :D It should work, but it depends what else may have been damaged when the leads were (presumably) pulled from the board.

Speaking of the Pedal Power, I have my Bad Monkey on a shelf in a rack connected to a pedal power 2. Sometimes when I power up the rack, the Bad Monkey is on, but most times, I have to slide out the shelf and press the footswitch. All of my other pedals remember that they were on when the rack fires up, but the Monkey seems to have short-term memory loss.

Too much weed

great pedal for the money. Bass and treble instead of just a tone control really help this pedal.

Yeah I've tried a bunch of xotic stuff and although the hi-fi or colouration of a pedal sometimes bug me, the BM seems to work best for me on my Lynchbox and with my JCM800. I find it is nice to tighten up the gain and give you a tiny bit sustain. If it isn't transparent enough for you, i found this site which outlines a "transparency" mod which is essentially one cap. http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/Iban ... log/53932/

I had one for years and it is a great pedal. I sold it though because I have too many Tubescreamer based pedals, and I liked the TS-7 better in the $40 range.

Really no need to do the mods. If you want less mids, just use the "mixer" out. Not sure why most people haven't figured this out yet.

Doesn't that mixer out have a cab sim built in? why would it have less mids? I've actually always been interested in trying just a basic ts-808 as well on my amp but figure it ain't worth the 100 bucks to buy one just to find out it does the same thing.

Anyone compared the Bad Monkey to the Digitech Hardwire CM2 tube overdrive?

I have both a U.S. and Chinese made Bad Monkey's. Can't really go wrong for what they cost.

I posted this a few days ago on another thread. Figured I post it again here.

Bad Monkey Mods...

Change C5 from .047uf to .1uf for hump removal = transparency mod

Change C11 from .22uf to 1uf for bass boost
