EVH 5150 III 50 watt MIM

Classic review

I owned a 50 watt and a 100 watter and didn't get on with either one. I thought the blue channel was pretty cool boosted but the Red ch, FOR ME, was overly compressed and lacked articulation. I don't play with shit tons of gain either ;) I also did not like the mids on either EVH; too much of that upper mid "kerang" thing going on for MY taste. I moved on to Engl and am WAY happier

As you said, tone is subjective; some will love it and some won't.

A/B with an Uberschall I was also shocked with how ch3 sounded so inarticulate.

I will try an Uberschall one of these days  Almost pulled the trigger a few times, but I always seem to find some other amp to try.
