ugh, i've always wanted a 2210! had a few 2203's and i never really get along with the 1 channel amps...

Good morning Justin! :) It makes perfect sense as to why you are experiencing this as the 1-Ch 2204 / 2203 models are all together different in design compared to the 2-Channel 2205 / 2210 models. the 2-Ch models (past early '84) have a lot more gain as well as low end compared to the 1-Ch models. We recently designed a Mod on a 2-Ch model for Bill Kelliher of Mastodon and he loves it. In his words he said the amp sounds like it's on steroids and it's a lot easier to play as well as more versatile over all. We did Mod the Clean Channel so that it sounds and feels better as well as being more cohesive with the Gain Channel. Also when the Volume control on the clean channel is set lower the tone has a nice top end 'chime' but is also has a deeper or richer low end w. In addition to the circuitry Modifications and 6550 power tubes, we also added the following new control features to the front panel;

* 3-Position 'Bright' switch (mini toggle)
* 3-Position 'Tone' switch (mini toggle)
* Our 'Bottom' control pot to adjust the low end to your taste
* 3-Position 'Voice' switch (mini toggle) that allows you to voice the kind of low end you want in the Bottom control
* 2-Position 'Tight' switch (mini toggle) to control how tight / bold or loose the low end is

Channel Bleed Mod - Bill's amp did suffer from what is commonly known as the 'Channel Bleed' problem, IE: the clean channel 'bleeds' over onto the Gain Channel and it is very noticeable in terms of tone and how it makes the Gain Channel feel. We now have a Mod to resolve this problem. We should also note that this problem was more common on the earlier revised versions. We have mainly seen this in the 84-85' years. This Mod can be done separately if someone wishes to keep their amp in it's 'stock' form or we will include it in the price of the Kelliher Mod.

This Mod is extremely versatile and can be used for Blues, Classic Rock, Hard Rock as well as Metal tones. It is on our list of things to add to our website so that we can make it available to everyone. We will also post it here as well :)

Thanks so much!

Is there any way we could get some tone samples of the Bill Kelliher mods? Something besides Mastodon recordings?

Good morning :) We have (3) 2210's in for the 'Kelliher Mod'. Business has been busier than usual this time of the year and if time allows we will make every effort to make some sound clips.

Many thanks!
