Hey. I'm trying to get the most of my Torpedo Studio. When I'm recording IRs of my cabs, does it matter what amp I use? Am I profiling the amp as well as the cab? I have to say the Torpedo Studio and I have been at odds since I unboxed it. I'm not getting the awesome sounds I was expecting. It must be me because everyone else says the Studio is great and most of the videos sound great. I'm going to work at it again tomorrow.

Just as a point of information, my cabs are a 1X12 Scumback J75-LD, 1X12 Fane Ascension A90, 1X12 Celestion Alnico Blue, 2X12 Celestion G12H, 4X12 Music Man 412-GS, 4X10 Webers, 1X15 Weber

My amps are a Suhr Badger 30, de Lisle 15P Studio, a custom head (EF86, 12AX7s, EL34s), Music Man 65R, Swart MKII, Fender Bassman 70, Crate Vintage Club 50, Crate Vintage Club 20

Mics are Shure SM57, Marshall MXR ribbon, Audix

Audio Interface is a UAD Apollo Twin

iMac with Logic Pro

Hi Torren61,

I think that if it's the first digital loadbox you use, or if you don't have a ton of experience with recording guitars, you'll need some time to find what you search for.

Creating your own IRs is a way to get faster to something you like. IN that case, we usually recommend a clean, full range solid state power amp. you'll find more advice on that article:
