Repairing / patching chips in the paint?

Since I always buy used guitars I have a couple of guitars that have some body wear. Does anyone have any resources for repairing / fixing paint damage? One of my guitars (white Gibson Flying V) has some body chips / dings and I'm looking to patch them. Another guitar (satin finish) has some chips and some headstock tip chips... I'm starting to get worried about the paint working its way off further.

I've had good luck with Testor's model paint for solid color USA Fenders. A USA Strat in Candy Apple red was nearly invisibly fixed up with a red pearl nail polish. A small headstock nick on a PRS electric blue CE24 was made invisible with a Volkswagen Techno Blue paint pen.

That's all that I have used at the present time.
