power supply for Zerrer

Hello Techies,

I'm putting together a pedalboard with a Zerrer and I'm looking for a suitable power supply. The Zerrer requires 12V -18V AC with a minimum of 500mA. Is there a sound difference (maybe more headroom) if I use a power supply with a higher voltage (15V or 18V) compared to the minimum required voltage of 12V? Or is there no difference because any power supply within the given voltage range will be transformed to an internal voltage of 18V anyway and I only have to make sure to provide enough milliamps?

Best!

It's hard to say to be honest - but what will most likely occur, is that it will be buffered down to 12V. The higher voltage will cause the pedal(s) to draw less current. You have to be careful with higher voltages - some non-linear devices will pop if they don't expect it as in old pedals or what have you. I usually prefer to stick to the lower voltage requirement of whatever range is stated and let the devices consume more current. Just IMO.
