I'll hopefully have a couple more by the end of the week. maybe a drop tuned/boosted demo and jam track video or two.

Really impressive amp

Boosted high gain metal clip (boost used is the eden analog austin overdrive with the gain at 0, tone at noon and level at max)
EBMM JP6 with bareknuckle painkiller bridge pickup

Hmmmm....I know it's supoosed to be a clone, and made by the same guy, but that doesn't sound much like my Cornford....interested in hearing more demos from you

Nice demo. How were they able to clone this? Any news about that? Last I heard it was controversial.

Sounds very nice!
Similar tone to the real thing. At least from what I remember when I tried a Cornford.

Same here. I literally don't recognize it at all. WTF? :dunno:

Updated the OP with a high gain boosted clip. Not really the amp's bread and butter sound but it pulls it off reasonably well.

$2500 for a Jet City amp?

Ya know...It does sound pretty darn good. But once you cross the $2,000 price mark...There are some very strong competitors in the market. Not sure how many units that they will move at that price point. Could be wrong.

I think it sounds good but do agree that is quite a jump in price from their normal model. I could see maybe 1000-1500, but 2500 is mighty steep. Good demo as always...

Well and another thing you have to look at is the fact that it's not their typical assembly line china built product either.

No one questions the price of bogners, soldanos, (insert any other hand built amp name here) so I don't see any reason why this should be viewed any differently just because of the name on the amp.

I think if it had some new obscure company name that no one had any preconceptions about, the price wouldn't be much of a discussion point.

I look at it this way... any time you dump more than 2 grand on an amp... hell really more than 1500 for a lot of guys, you're essentially buying a niche sound with that extra $$. For a lot of guys, sub $1500 (and for some even cheaper) amps are as good as they'll ever need but for other guys, whatever the company may be, they have higher priced amps that cater a specific sound to that specific player and these are usually the guys who have played less expensive amps and know what they want.

I don't know many guys who buy $2500+ amps on a whim. It's almost always planned and pre-thought out by then and lower cost alternatives have already been tried.

These amp are built by a UK company that offers OEM services. Martin Kidd is involved with them. They offer these up as a sort of a template, you can vary the circuit etc for your needs. They were never suppose to be Cornford clones, just the same construction implementation.

Cheers,
Mike

  I agree

I do not know how good the iron is or the componets BUT that amp looks better built than many others in that price range.....................

That makes sense...as it doesn't sound much like the MK (at least to me), which is a bummer...if it was a clone by Martin, I'd be tempted.

Agreed. Seems to be a case of poor branding/marketing. Jet City is known for making good sounding budget amps...they've established a brand identity by doing so. IMO they should have had a new name for a high-end build...it's much easier to sell a budget version of a known high quality product (think Suhr Pro-series or import Fenders/Jacksons/etc) than it is to sell an elite offering by a company known for making low-budget products (Volkswagon's failure to crack the luxury car market a few years back with an $80K offering comes to mind).
It looks/sounds like it could be a great amp but a lot of players will have an issue with shelling out $2500 for a Jet City regardless of its sound and build quality.

You are talking to a guy that fought Lucus Electronics in Jags for 10 years, you really want to go there regarding the origin of the trannies?    :D
