2x12's: Orientation, Why, and Brand Experiences...

I recently took an eminence wizard out of my splawn 2x12 (to accomodate an 8 ohm setup for the attenuator) and set it up vertically (with the remaining governor in the top slot) and the whole thing angled up at around 30 degrees. So it's pretty much a ported 1x12 now, with a 12" port on the front side.
Really digging it!!!
Cab is surprisingly still very tight and it's nice to just hear the governor for a change.
Anybody do this?

Why only 2x12's, weight or the size? If it's weight I have a great solution.

No need for a 4x12 right now, maybe ever. I can always grab one off of CL. I've grown to love 2x12's for the rooms I play.

I'm looking to get a custom one made from Peterson, much like the Dr. Z on the top. OR, I may go diagonal that is 30" tall and with a convertible back option.
