That pretty much sums up what I have been after. Plexi with a more lows.

I must chime in on how nice this rig is. I was floored when it was demoed
and can not believe the tones that were coming out of that head!

Thump, the amp sounds nice in your vid. I'm sure that it sounds even better in person. The price point will kill it though. I'm not trying to start a flame fest or anything like that, so take what I say with a grain of salt...

Where the hell has the great sounding sub 2k amp market gone? Hell, it's 2k for a Marshall now. When the hell did everyone and their brother decided that you needed to spend a small fortune on gear to sound good? I understand that there is a lot of time that goes into amps like this, but what's the use if only a hand full of people can afford them. Not trying ti steal your thread, but the price just set me off a bit.

Sounds great! The clean channel sounds great for a channel switcher. Two quick questions: Do you know how long it takes for him to build each amp? Would it also be fair to say that it doesn't have as much gain as something like a Cameron modded Marshall or a Bogner Ecstasy. thanks again for posting the video.

I think the sub 2K market is still there. Mesas got several in that range, Egnater, Budda, etc...It's really personal choice. I can tell you from hearing this amp, that it produced some of the best tones I've heard.

Me, personally, I would like to see a surge in the great-sounding sub-$45 amp range. It would really help me out.

The amp sounds really good, but I think the V30's are holding it back a bit. In some parts I heard a typical V30 harsh high end.

I would suggest some Scumback H55 or H75's for your bogner cab....

Never bonded to the Axe FX. At all. It was going one way or another.

Nice vid Chris. I think its cool there are some new amp builders coming out. The clean on the amp sounds nice as does the mid gain / crunch. The higher gain sounds didnt do it for me, sounds rolled off on the top end....that cab has V30's doesnt it? Maybe that's what I am hearing.....Not digging the look. I don't get the cursive logos (hard to read), never liked it with Marshall.

The AC DC tones were great.

Kind of agree. Usually high gain amps have all their bite etc with the pre up and really lack on medium gain tones but I felt it was the other way around on this one. Maybe you just need to bring up the treble and mids when using the gain boost. Kind of hurts you though if all the upper medium and higher gain tones are on one channel. It's always hard to tell with a camera mic. Overall it sounds great. I love all these builders who obviously grew up on 70's and 80's tones making amps that are the anti-christ to Boogies recto, sizzly mush. Marshall's not making good amps anymore so we need someone else to.

Think about how many Chinese etc amps and Korean guitars are over $1000 now. Over 2K for a USA handmade head sounds about right if we want American folks to actually make a living from this. Not having a go at you but think about the cost of living here. Plus you may not move that many and how much did you spend on startup and prototyping alone. Probably won't see a profit for a couple of years if you factor in any advertising and promotion. I can't afford over 2K so I wait for used but I think it's fair.

I wouldn't be surprised when Marshall eventually moves all manufacturing to Asia that the price won't change much either.

Overall I think it looks great. I don't care for the cane grill look on a head but I'm sure you could get something different or change it.

Just going to say you can love an amp and move on from it, as history has shown.

It's always nice finding a keeper, whether it's a mass produced or low production model.

Personally think the amp looks tits!! Pretty hard to judge an amp by a video recording and create an opinion as far as tone goes. I like amps that have a little less gain and are more punchy and open.

thanks for the info. and thanks again for posting this video clip! Again, I really liked the clean tone a lot. The higher gain stuff sounded great too although I'm probably more used to the highly saturated gain that amps like bogner and cameron have.

I liked it. I'd say if it has that much punch on a video camera it's gonna kick you in the nads in person. Nice stuff.

To those that want more gain, the guy could probably add more based on the design. Nice amp, didn't think I'd like it much but I'm suprised.

Sounds pretty good, but I never judge a amp by you tube clips. I do respect most people on RT have good ears. I definately will keep a look out for one in the future. I would love to try one out.

I think it sounds great (looks very nice too) even with the video cam mic you can feel it coming thru.

Greazygeo: As far as the high gain, I suppose you can put something in front of it to drive it harder, or swap out the speakers - or add more presence, or something... I'm sure there's more to it than the quick demo shows?

Regarding the price of this gear, I think $2K is about the entry point for anything new and good these days, maybe $1500 minimum for guitars and basses for something decent - especially from North America or Europe (Australia, New Zealand as well) - or from any "First World" country. Just the quality parts will cost more, worse if you buy in small quantities like I'm sure many of these boutique makers do; not to mention the labor costs and the costs to do business (space, inventory, accounting, legal, website, payroll, insurance, taxes, government fees, etc.) My Ultra cost near $2K (over with taxes and shipping), and I'm looking at more than that for a decent pair of active FRFRs not to mention a subwoofer so I can use it for bass and keys too. I've got a few Rickenbackers on order (long story here) - they are still a private company and make their instruments in the US - AFAIK, they make nearly every component; those they don't make are outsourced to other American companies that make it here too. Needless to say, Rics ain't cheap.

Hi guys, I will have another amp available in the next week or so if anyone is interested. After these, it will be a few weeks as I'm waiting on parts.
As for the price, I thought I would be able to sell these things much cheaper than $2650.00 until I actually found out how much it cost to build them. That is why I'm selling direct instead of going though retail stores. The retail price would have to be much higher.
I see some of you guys do understand the costs involved with running a business and I appreciate that.

I hear ya, I built 1.5 amps (the .5 was an Egnater Seminar - i consider that 1/2 a build), and building amps is a lot of work!!!! It'd take a lot of money for me to build an amp for someone other than myself!

dstroud, how was the egnater school? I was thinking about it a while back but I just couldn't afford it.

Actually on the low side of pricing for a hand built amp so..No worries!! Some people just don't get it ???

Keep doing what you're doing, I like what I'm hearing so far and you're actually delivering a product

+1 as well, If the guys could see all that goes into it on a small builder budget they would see your not getting rich on it and it really is a labor of love.

just had a chance to watch the video and i must say i'm pretty impressed by what i heard. lots of different tones available. that's what i really like in an amp. tone and gain controls that actually do something. as far as the priceing is concerned? the mass producers build thier stuff on pcb's because it's cheaper to manufacture that way. but when something goes wrong there's usually alot more labor costs involved in getting it fixed. where a well designed botique amp usually saves labor costs.. because everything is right there. i have no arguement with a handbuilt amp maker getting a fair price for his/her work. i just can't afford one.
