Here's a couple of dry direct clips. One is the OD100se+ one is the AxeFx. Both are mono, dry quick high gain clips.

It is not a fair comparison as far as science goes but what the hell. I recorded the OD100 using a Palmer PDI09. I recorded the AxeFx in mono (it sounds way better in stereo)

I'm not saying which one is which until later....it's not a contest and maybe folks will think they both suck

I think both are decent for being really quick clips without FX and such.

Discussion please.

Yes I know I have too much gain. I used my PRS SC with Blackouts for this and I backed off the SPC control to zero/bypassed.

Very cool test. So this was both into the Palmer speaker sim? If so, that's pretty impressive.

I'd say the 1st part was the OD100... it sounded a little rawer and uncontained.
Part 2 the Axefx... sounded like it almost had a little noise gate in it. It sounded more tidy, like it was really dialed into with extra compression and EQ. But maybe a little too much in comparison to the rawness of the 1st part.

Curious now.

I would say the first one sounded like a Gorilla G15 with tube stack crunch switch on and the second like a vintage St Louis Music Crate GX15 dimed.

Out of the two, I liked #1 best. A little more girth to the tone.

#2 sounded less detailed to me.

First sounded more full and raw and second was too refined not as present...... but I 'll go against all instinct and say the first was the Axe and the second was the OD. :D

Oh yeah and too much gain. :D

I will go out on a limb myself and say the first was all tube amp and the second the Axe.

Mark,

I will bet you dinner in LA at NAMM on that one.

First one is palmer

second one is the Axe FX. Axe FX sounds crisper to me, I like its a tad better then the first one, I can hear the palmer "sound" if I am right, but both good for a mono direct

First one is Axe. 2nd one is real amp. Reason I can tell is the high end is not completely correct on the first part.

[edit] oh yeah, looks like I was correct

Wow! I totally liked the first one more. Any chance of getting that patch from you to try in my Axe?
