Ha. You were negotiating the white Soldano rack ? I was in touch with the guy too but the price is totally crazy IMHO. He was asking almost twice what I paid for my SLO100R for his SM100R+SP77+white case. That is unreasonable. FYI, 3 years ago, a friend on HRI proposed me 2 SM100R+8U rack for $2000. Too bad I hadn't the dough at the time and the guy wouldn't sell just one. I really do want a SM100R badly but not THAT badly LOL. ;)
The last one I remember went away for .... 2000 Bucks (€uro)

One went for €1500 (¥200,000) 2 months ago in Japan and I really feel it was overpriced. It's only a mono 100W power amp after all.
Only crazy japanese collectors would pay such a price.

I think this depends very much on the point of view. If you want SLO tone, usually you have to cope with a two channel head that has a shitty loop.

An SM100 with an X88 or Caswell will give a much more versatile rig with THAT SLO tone and no issues of applying effects in good quality.

If you look at the used prices of SLOs in Europe (±2500€) then 1500 for an SM100 is quite good actually.

I think €1500 is too much for a SM100R and I don't share your point of view at all. It's the price I paid in a shop in Luxembourg for my rackmount SLO some years ago. I wouldn't pay the same price for the power section alone as I paid for the whole amp.

You can have the SLO loop modded for about $100 by any good tech. It's not that much of an issue. I know because I did that to mine.

Anyway, I don't know where you guys get your prices, but not in the same places as mine. There's a SLO for sale in France right now and the asking price is €1500 :

Of course there is always some people buying gear at insane prices from time to time but... I would never pay €2500 for an SLO. Ever.
Anyway, for the price the guy is asking for the whole rack ($4000), I think I can find a SLO, a X99 and mod the loop to interface both together. That would be a bit more serious than a SP77/SM100 rig, don't you think ?? I know because it's exactly what I have done myself.

That's a great price (1500) and I cannot find any at such prices. The link you sent is an 110V version :o(

Yes it's a 110V version but Soldano can send you the 220V Xformer for $250 I think. It might be worth looking into it if you're interested. The step-down Xformer is no big deal anyway.

Someone who owes me $ was suppose to get that one for me in Japan.

I'd probably pay 3k for one that was in the states. VHT Classics sell for that all the time. I want a second SM100r to convert to a stereo amp. Soldano will do it. Sweet for a SLOr/X99/SM100r W/D/W rig.

I understand he wants to sell it as a set, but I simply don't want the SP77 or case. The added weight alone with those for shipping is a few hundred $$.

Damn Euro and 220v BS... ;)

No, but I was told they would convert a mono SM to a stereo one. I am calling them today to check on that.
