Well... it really isn't a money problem for me either but absolutely zero information about the preamp, no youtube or netmusicians clips or anything besides a few pictures and a big price tag just make it a bit too much for me to put that kind of investment into and risk not liking it at all. :aww:

I'll make some clips when I get mine in a couple months.

You have one coming? I'm jealous. What power amp are you gonna use with it?

Yes. Don't be jealous, all you need is money & patience

Power amp is a Mesa Strategy 400. Complete overkill but I love it. I've tested 4 preamps through it and each setup sounded and felt like an entirely different rig. So I know it'll bring out the best in this preamp.

You goin' all rack Matt? The only reason I am saying this is because it hasnt been said but the Rocktron Prophesy II is fucking sick for the money (used that is, new that are overpriced like crazy).

No. Just figure that now that I have a Fryette 2/50/2, it'd be fun to check out some pre-amps - besides the AXE. I was a little disappointed with how the AXE faired this weekend when some friends came over and we started cranking up the amps. Patches that I had been happy with suddenly felt lacking. :aww:

what did you think it (axe-fx) was missing? and how are you running it.
To be honest I use mine direct for recording but I think a decent valve amp with an effects loop would be better for me live (actualy I am not even too worried about the loop it just would be nice)

You'll have it still in June. Maybe one of the last days of June, but anyway - still in June, as agreed ;)

The wait for this is agonizing, yet bittersweet because I know how good it'll be. A glorious burden so to speak :D

It just sounded a little thin and almost brittle in comparison. I was using the Fryette and the ART SLA-2. Like I said, I had been pretty happy with the settings I had before that day. I'm just going to go back to the drawing board again with the tweaking. I still need to upgrade to 9.03.

Worst case, I'll just go back to all tubes and use the Axe for effects - because it is definately one of the easiest to use rack effects units I've had.

I can't wait to hear a review. You could call in the Domino Decree.

Where in Canada are you? Are you waiting on a Natas too or is that in your posession? Sick gear.

In Ontario, about 1 hr south of Toronto. How about you ? If you're within traveling distance you're welcome to come by and check this stuff out. I wouldn't mind hearing your Peters amps.

Yes waiting on a Natas too but its not ready yet. Even after the proto is tested I have to "get in line" in the ordering process, so that will take some time.

Central Alberta here. A little over an hour north of Calgary.

What's the estimated wait time? It's only about 6 weeks, last I heard, for a Peters.

Absolutely incredible amplifiers from a really excellent guy.

His pre-amps will be available soon too.

There's way too much awesome stuff out there...

For a Natas? I'm gonna go with at least 2 years. Hell aside from mods, how many Fortin branded amps have actually shipped? Maybe 2 meatheads and maybe 4 or 5 Bones from what I can tell.

What's the scoop on a Peters pre-amp? I'd love a Chimera-based pre-amp.

Natas proto should be done May/June this year, straight from the source.

You'd have to ask James about the specific details. I spoke to him yesterday and I got the impression that he's got the chassis, but hasn't officially rolled them out on his site, which he's re-designing to feature them. They will be the same circuits as his current amp models with an OD channel (Hydra, Chimera, Gryphon, Polaris) and the glorious Halo clean channel.

I'd say the price, but that would only be an educated guess for the one-off I had priced before ordering my second head.

The Chimera is amazing. My favorite amp out there. I want to get some clips done this week, but life and work is getting in the way.

Yup, should be wailing on that bad boy this June so be easy on it

That amp will be mine

Yeah, but how long till an end-user gets one? Wasn't the Natas proto due last fall anyway? I'd love to buy a Fortin, but they appear to ship out only marginally faster than a Cameron.

Yes it was due last fall. He officially "opened for business" in fall 2008. After a slow start, things suddenly exploded in Aug/Sept 2009. Lots of orders = a lot to do for one guy with a separate full time job.

At least now we can narrow down the time it'll be ready to specific months, not seasons

Wow, I didn't know he had another job. James is a full-time amp builder and he's busy. I couldn't imagine having to juggle both.

How can you people be so excited about preamps that you have never heard in person and have yet to be build? This baffles me.

Probably because the builder has a good rep - and we like the way other stuff the builder makes sounds and trust that the new product will sound equally as well.
