I want to give a review on the Carvin RX1200L..I ordered mine about a week and a half ago. It came in Friday and I'm glad because I had gigs Friday night, Sat. night and Sunday night (4th of July). I knew I only had 10 days to decide if I want to keep it or send it back. I did read a couple of reviews, but none of them really talked about how much power this thing has and is it enough!? The mixer has 12 channels, all with the 3-pin mike plugs, all channels set up the same, all useable. The mixer is very small and looks and feels like a toy. I have it the Road warrior case that is available for it. Don't get one without the road case!!!! When you get into using it, I assure you, its no toy! The guys at pro sound web recommended against Carvin powered mixer. But I had to take a chance and try it. it has 4 internal amps 1 amp for each main and 2 seperate monitor mixes. It is rated at 400 watts per amp at 4 ohms. At 8 ohms it is 300 watts. Gee, I wonder if that is going to be enough power? Well I'v used it for the last 3 nights in a row....and hell yea!! It has power out the wazoo! Last night was the best trial. We did an outdoor gig. I have a 6 peice blues band. and miked everything! The drums got a bass mike and a snare mike. guitar, bass, keyboards, sax, harp, and 4 vocal mikes were also included. one slot was left for the break music. The board was half way up and we were asked to turn it down. Its funny seeing all this equiptment set up and every thing running thru this little tiny unit. And omg, the power that comes from this thing is unbeleivable!!! I don't know alot about today's technology, but how this thing can produce more than a 350 lb rack of stuff is nothing short of magic or voodoo or something. The knobs are close together and a little challanging for my fat fingers, and to look at it you would think...ha ha...its a toy. Next time i use it I will probably just run both mains off of 1 of the amps instead of both. That way i can set both with one eq, and i dont need all that power for most of my gigs. BTW my mains are just on old set of yamaha 15's and horn..says on the back 8 ohms 1000 watts peek. The 300 watt amps in this head commanded those yamaha cabs like a drill sargeant. the mixer, road case, and shipping came to just a touch under $1k. Its alot of money for a tiny 18lb unit. But this thing has the heart of a truck load of gear! I am definatlely keeping this guy! I'll let you know how it holds up in the long haul. I am booked solid all summer and I will be pimping this thing to no end...lol I hope this reveiw was helpful to someone!!

Glad its working for you. Not surprised the guys at prosound web didn't like it, they are generally not much on Carvin or powered mixers.

The new power amps are using power supplies without large transformers, that is why the new ones are so light. There is something to be said for the older style amps though, especially if driving subs. I like reducing weight too, I have pair of EV SX300 speakers and they are great, I can carry both since they are around 30lbs a piece. They work great for monitors.

Anyway, rock on

Thanks! I read where someone else was not please when using subs with this unit. Thats something that will have to be considered when purchasing. We havn't used our subs in years. I'm too old and fat to haul all of that crap. :) I looked at those speakers you mentioned. They look very nice, a little pricey, but EV makes really good stuff. Peace!
