Price check on an early Dual Rec

I would find another way to scratch that itch at those prices. Unless you’re a recto fiend who’s always wanted that specific amp. The best deals might be on non-reborn, 3 channel models. Find one of those and you’ll do just fine. You’re very correct in that for 3k there are many amps I would go for over that Rev F.

The one thing I’ll say about those old Recto’s is that no other amp has that same throaty growl those do on that orange channel. To me that’s one of the best powerchord sounds I’ve heard and I couldn’t be without that in my arsenal. The Wizard imo is more about its hard hitting punch, definition and openness. Also, a killer amp of course, but I personally could live without it if I had to, thankfully I don’t
 
I have one just like this, #2095, which I think is Rev. F. Yours might be an earlier version.

Totally. I use clean on green channel then clone orange to red. The presence knob on the green channel then works on the red channel as a VNFB knob so you can really dial in the exact tone you want. Of course you can continue to use the three band EQ. It takes awhile to learn how to operate and dial in but once you do, you can get great variance of tones.
 
I totally don't like rectos but this is like THE holy grail of all rectifiers.

I would 100% buy this, even if you aren't sure, if you can.

Because these are highly desirable to a lot of people.

Agreed, the Multi Watt is voiced like a Rev F for MUCH cheaper. Note the Dual MW has better upper mids than the Triple MW though.
 
Faka is truly one of the greats, you know when something like this pops up hes gonna do the correct thing and buy it and make a sick video for us. i cant wait to hear boosted orange channel of this thing!!!
 
Theres not a single day that goes by I regret selling my Rev F back in '08 on HCAF classifieds to help fund for an ENGL SE 6L6 that I ended up hating and selling within 2 weeks. TBH though, I'd probably would've sold it by this point anyway seeing these current prices. No Mesa is worth that kind of money. Even the IIC+. Sorry if that offends anybody.
 
I had a 2000 Dual Recto that I bought new back in the day,I tried to love it... I went back to my Marshalls. I also owned a Rivera K-TRE and enjoyed that amp more than my Dual Recto. I'm not sure the Recto would unseat your K-TRE quite honestly, both have some sag and some years of them have a bloated lowend but the I think the K-TRE tightens up better for your style. You definitely should play it first to see it is the type of animal of an amp that you would enjoy. I bet you might walk away happy to go back to your K-TRE. Those very early ones had less of that loose low end so you might like it more than the one I had. Like anything some recto's are better than others so you would really have to test drive it first before I laid 3500 Benjamins.

Don't get me wrong... I love alot of Recto tones, it's just not an amp that I like to play... YMMV....

I’ve heard so many different rectos and they all are very close . I’ve liked the non reborn 3 channel as much as any . Not a big fan of rectors but I got one for $900 that’s damn killer at that price and as good as my friends Rev f when back yo back

I think that’s somewhat true with dual vs triples across the board and also with many lower wattage versions of other amps

IMHO the Rev F destroys the K-TRE no contest. Doesn’t have the rawness or anywhere the vicious throaty growl that makes that orange channel so special. It can be tighter and also maybe brighter if I remember correctly, but otherwise to me sounds much tamer, more civilized than the old Rectos’s with comparatively bloated mids. Almost like comparing a Friedman to a good modded Marshall. Those 3 channel ones don’t sound as good also though
