I realized that I hadn't played this beast in a while so here's a really short clip - this time I am trying to "nail" the Among the living guitar tone.
It sounds close to me - but of course there are other people who can achieve better results than me - anyhow here it is , hope you like it!

Sounds great man! That album and SOD’s “SEOD“ have such killer, brutal tone. They were both the same gear and I believe it was a JCM800 slammed with a PQ-3, and some kind of dirt pedal I can’t recall. I’m not positive about the PQ-3 though.

And MANY layers of rythm guitar tracks. I think Ian used a boosted 800 and Spitz Boogies I believe.

Wish I still had my TC BLD from the 80's.

Clip sounded great. Would love to hear a comparo of same with the III.

JCM800 (w/6550s I believe), TC BLD booster pedal, Celestion 80w speakers (444 cone), Jackson RR & Gibson Flying V both w/SD JB pickups. Mic'd up properly with lots of mics to capture the room. No PQ-3 but Ian sometimes used a TC Dual Parametric EQ pedal as well.

Sounds awesome indeed!

A buddy of mine was big on recreating Ian's tone as well, got the correct gear and all and he was always raving about the power of that BLD.
I wonder how different a Boss FA-1 would sound, since what I like about that pedal, is you crank crank the bass knob, while simultanously engaging the Low Cut switch; makes for a tighter, punchier boost.
