anyone tried a Blackmore sig strat? wondering how the tone/noise is with the SD quarter pounder and dummy coil.
Quarter pounds are pretty noisy with gain and volume so do take some getting use to .. you find out quickly where to stand and where not to face hahaha ... they are basically p90's although I don't think they quite have the mojo of a 90anyone tried a Blackmore sig strat? wondering how the tone/noise is with the SD quarter pounder and dummy coil.
Spot on with the scalloped frets sorta’ pseudo compared to the Yngwie.I have a quarter pound(er) in the neck of my Demartini Charvel and I love it. Definitely beefier than the usual single coil but it isn't a raging humbucker. I get why he likes them. They add some weight without losing definition. Dimarzio chopper is also a good one to look like but the rails look are definitely a step down in the cool factor.
Which Blackmore era sig are you trying? The 3 bolt Japanese ones? Those will be similar to my pre YJM signature that had uniform but less deep scalloped fretboard. The Blackmore scallop on some models is unique in that it is more like a Nike swoosh from what I understand. Also not as deep as the YJM strats. I thought of picking one of these up but scalloped fretboards do actually take getting used to. Love the vibrato, it's amazing. But it actually feels slower as you glide across the fretboard as you sometimes feel as if you are caught up on the fret or slowed down by it. You really have to lighten your touch.

Im actually doing an experiment, putting a QP and dummy coil in a Les Paul jr type guitar. I was most curious how much the dummy coil helped noise. we will see!!I have a quarter pound(er) in the neck of my Demartini Charvel and I love it. you do know that the "dummy coil" is just a pickup that is wired in right? I doubt it even has any wires .. it isn't going to do anything to help with noise, it is purely for looksIm actually doing an experiment, putting a QP and dummy coil in a Les Paul jr type guitar. Not true, they’re usually wired in and help get rid of most of the noise (But not all).you do know that the "dummy coil" is just a pickup that is wired in right? I doubt it even has any wires .. it isn't going to do anything to help with noise, it is purely for looks
hes right, i got the pups and was just a piece of plastic lol but dummy coil is usually a coil and no magnet to buck some hum. I was hoping the blackmore set was that, but it isnt. I was able to return them, back to the drawing board!!Not true, they’re usually wired in and help get rid of most of the noise (But not all).
yeah but not the case with the blackmore strat .. the bridge pickup is reverse wound so thats the hum cancelling part for his sig model, the middle one is just for showNot true, they’re usually wired in and help get rid of most of the noise (But not all).
Ah I see, thanks for explaining that.yeah but not the case with the blackmore strat .. the bridge pickup is reverse wound so thats the hum cancelling part for his sig model, the middle one is just for show
