Anyone using Vibes?

I have a Behringer Vibe (had 2, gave one away) and for how inexpensive it is, it is a good easy way to see how into vibes you might be. By no means am I saying is it going to hang with the big boys but it's a decent inexpensive way to check them out.

owned the real deal.
Ive actually looked at a couple original units. I think they were original units?
However they are large, pretty pricey and not sure I know enough to know I'm getting a deal and its all there and complete.
Then there's maintaining the unit?

I’ve been through a few. Jam retro vibe was really nice, preferred it over the drybell for whatever reason.

Dusty’s Sir Henry is a VERY good vibe, one of the best. He’s making them again. A true step up from the smaller guys above.

Rick Weaver’s vibe is also very good. Maybe on par with the Henry but had them at separate times.

The one that really tops them all is the Shiftee vibe. That thing would you make you lose your balance the throb was so immersive. Someone randomly offered me huge money for mine (about 7 times what I paid for it new) and I couldn’t turn it down for an effect I use occasionally. But good luck finding one. Can’t be more than a hundred out there.

Wouldn’t lose any sleep chasing down super rare ones, especially if you like what you have now. All that matters is that you enjoy playing what you have

fuckin Carl rolls in and drops a knowledge bomb...backed up with pics and then teases us noobs with the signed Marino pedals.....forum gangster status....TOP TIER....How you like south Cackalacky dude?
I truly believe Carl has achieved the greatest redemption arc in the history of guitar forums.

Would never get an original today. Like an old Echoplex. Way overpriced and likely tampered with. I had them back in the day. The first one bought from my friend for $50!

Just got another vibe pedal. Its one of the effects I like sometimes, but don't use excessively.
I started with an EQD The Depths, but it was so quiet.
Sold it and bought a Jam Retrovibe, but again it was too quiet. Also a bit expensive if you arent all that happy with it.

Fast forward to last week and the delivery of my Drybell Vibe Machine v.3
Awesome pedal! So many ways to adjust it to make it behave the way you'd like it.

Hate to say it. Plugged it in immediately and have not changed one setting from the factory.
Volume and treble, my chief complaints are there in spades!
Yep...alot. What do you need know lol. Seriously have been through so many I've lost count. Vibes IMO more so than other pedals have a life of their own. You have the traditional recreations ala Sabbadius, Weaver, Sir Henry, Gypsy. The modern take ala King Tone, Formula B MKII, Jam Retro, Foxrox Aquavibe. Non Photo Cell ala Wilson Haze, Horrithia Berkley, Mayer Voodoo TC and space savers ala Drybell versions, Dawner Prince, Ghost Vibe, and JHS Unicorn. Of course that is not taking into account non traditional vibes with no photo cell or LED ala MXR Uni Vibe, TC Vicious vibe etc...

There is a ton of flavors out there.

I've owned quite a few from the high dollar real Sir Henry to the affordable Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe. As I always say I've never really owned a bad vibe, just ones that didn't work for me.

Currently I have the Kingtone 1968 and the Formula B MKII. Those are on my two boards. Why, those two fit my "tonal" needs with my amps and where I place them in chain. I also like where the throb falls in the circular pattern not to mention zero tone or volume loss. Last but not least is space limitations, that is something I have to deal with so it's another factor in my decision. For example The Sir Henry was an amazing pedal but I didn't like the AC cord nor the size of the pedal. I don't think I've compromised on either of my choices.

As for Drybell, I've had v1 and v2. They are the ultimate in size but I just could not get them where I wanted and further once I started tweaking never felt I could get them back to stock. Great units though, just not for me. Also if I space wasn't an issue and I wanted something exactly like the originals, I'd go Sabbadius or R Weaver or back to the Sir Henry.

I'm loving it in SC. I was in a 2 family house w/ mom for a long time, and I thought it would last forever, but it didn't. She fell. Hospital and Nursing Home for a year and she passed at 92. Sold the house. I went into an Apartment for a year. Hated it. $2800 a month rent! Decided to get out of the state. Got a new house in Myrtle Beach. Got a Mesa Boogie Mark VII coming tomorrow, but that's another story.

looking forward to your review on it. Lemme know if you ever need company, especially around vacation time...lol...

Been through quite a few and this one stuck. Had an older Fulltone unit with the pedal built in and that was nice too.

Most Vibes are very good. I've owned so many thru the years I lost count. I actually owned 3 original Univox Univibes thru the 70's and 80's.
These days I got a Sabbadius Funky Vibe, a Limited Edition one, and as a spare I got a Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe+.
Here's a pic from my new house in Myrtle Beach, SC. I moved from Long Island a few months ago.
What are those black pedals in the pic? Could they be the Frank Marino pedals, handbuilt and signed by Frank? Yup

I didn’t even know FM made pedals. Very cool. Big fan of his and saw him a few times in late 70s.

What’s the fourth knob with the black chicken head on the Funky Vibe for?

I never did a deep dive into really good vibe pedals; it's a once in a while sound for me so it just wasn't worth it.
I've got a little Lovepedal one-knob (depth trimpot inside, though) Pickle Vibe on my small board; that's good enough.
I have a pair of the Dano photocell vibes too - not very tweakable but they were only $25 each coupla years ago.

Drybell makes great stuff though. I love the Unit67.

.

I don’t have a ton of pedals on my board but one of the staples is an Ultravibe II. Only use it here and there but it’s great at what it does.

Good to hear!
Before I bought the Drybell, I did a search on TGP and none of these you mention do I remember being mentioned there.
Well maybe one I recognize :dunno:

Very happy with the Drybell unit, very happy, but who knows which direction I would have went?
Not that I am at all against owning a second vibe...

Totally agree with JBT!
Jealous too.
