The intent is to keep going. I am reaching out to parts vendors this morning to discuss those options. Also, I am fortunate enough that my wife’s cousin is a pedal maker in Japan specializing in fuzz pedals, so he is helping me find out option for domestic Japanese parts.

Wow !! Thats cool !! Japan music scene is big !! Many will dig in to what you make :) like am from singapore and like to see their used market... pretty wild thou and they have good luthiers and guitar coy that makes good jaw dropping guitars... ie: T's guitar and Bizen works (Les paul grail in japan) will hook up on Bizen in future...

That is the key here for a successful move without it being too difficult or worrisome. Push with all your energy in that direction and once this is established make a smooth move over there. The rest is easy. You can always reconsider everything afterwards.

Sounds like this could be a great move for your family since your wife is Japanese. Being close to family will be huge for your kids especially if they’re still young.

I know another American who married a Japanese woman and moved there and is glad to be raising his kids in a society where social trust and a communal sense of order still exist and politics hasn’t infested every facet of life.

That said, maybe I need to order a few of your pickups while I can. I’ve really been thinking about the Roxy, Sunset Strip and A2 1984.
 
I prefer the pre-Japan, less radioactive models. The 100v 50hz power in Japan really messes with the winding machines :D

But there are marketing opportunities. The Tonenerd Gaijin series. “American Made. In Japan”

If Scottosan had the marketing sensibilities of the guy who runs Guitarfetish (and concomitant lack of shame) he could really get a lot of mileage out of this.

Welcome! Let me know if you need any pointers about Japan, though life on and off base are quite different. Even life near the base is quite different! Coming into Tokyo or more Okinawa-oriented?

Okinawa. I spent 4 years there in the Marines. I go back frequently, as recent as July. The culture will be zero adjustment. I can go full on native and not miss a beat. I won’t even likely use the commissary. The Lawsons and 7-11 stores put convenience stores to shame here.

Ha. No joke. I was on a keto diet before my last visit. I broke that diet as to enjoy the trip and to enjoy the great food. When I weighed myself the day I got back I had gained 10lbs in 2 weeks. 3 days later I dropped 8 lbs. the amount of water retention from the sodium is insane. Yet, heart disease is less prevalent there than here :dunno:
 
Either way, I'll still be harassing you about getting Roxys in whatever aesthetic matches the guitar I just bought ?

8-10 days isn't a long wait for perfection
 
Both of my parts vendors are good to go shipping to me there, but most importantly the wire vendor will ship as well, so I won’t have to worry about a bunch of R&D with strange parts. It’s taken a lot of time to settle on the parts so used. I nervous and excited, overwhelmed and motivated all at once
