When Kennedy made his speech about putting men on the moon May 25 1961 the US had about 15 minutes of actual space flight experience and that was cause Alan Shepherd had managed a quick orbit about three weeks prior.

How come there was concern about tracking dust into the sterile lunar lander on the moon boots but when it lands the module itself looks like it just rolled off an assembly line. The moon dust stuff is completely contradictory both in photo and explanation.

The guys who operated the lunar rover said dust was falling on them from every direction. But the reverse thruster on the landing module didn't kick up any dust at all?

They claim the lunar landing module was the first rocket propelled vehicle equipped with a throttle. Before that rockets were either on or off.

C’mon man, I already told you…Answers!

I like that video btw arch. I thought it was slow at first, but it really was worthwhile to establish the feel of the era and the significance of the space race with the Soviets before getting to the technical considerations. Still have another 15 minutes

The video showed dust kicking up as they landed. It included audio of the pilot mentioning the dust

They had a lunar landing module simulator for training down in Texas that was too dangerous to operate so they just skipped that because landing on the moon was going to be easier.

The pictures of the module's feet show very clean gold foil, not anything dusty as though it had used a rocket to land on the lunar surface. There would be dust on everything so where did the dust go?

It went away from the lander
