Hi guys,
I have been using wet dry wet setup for a couple of years now and heard that adding a mixer to mix dry signal to the wet cabs will make it sound even bigger.

So I bought a mixer and connected last night and all i am getting is dry signal out of all 3 cabs. I suspect i have connected it wrong so please let me know what to change! I couldn't sleep last night lol thinking about it all.....

Here is how i have it connected....

Guitar to dry effects to front of jcm800
Jcm800 speaker out to Bray box then Bray box speaker out to dry cab and Bray box line out to mixer.
Mixer efx out to wet effect pedals
Effect pedal stereo out to mixer
Mixer L and R main out to stereo power amp
Stereo power amp out to L and R wet cabs.

I am think that the efx out on mixer is not the right way as the line out from bray box is going into mic1 on mixer

Some pics of mixer.

Bro - I would ask a mod to move this to the main forum for you so you get more hits

There has been quite of bit of w/d/w discussions lately :dunno:

Thanks Splawndude. I sent Monkey Man a message
Yeah i was participating in that wet dry wet thread last week but didn't want to hijack the op's question thread with my own so i made my own. I thought his was in here but i guess it was in the main rig talk one

Cheers bud!

I use a Switchblade system so my W/D/W is a bit different than a traditional mixer. Have you checked this thread? That might be of some help.

w/d/w rig with mixer Good luck!

Thanks Phil b! I think i found my answer in there. I need a y splitter cable to send line level from my bray box to the mixer and effects. Can't wait to pick one up after work tomorrow and try it! My mind has been going nuts trying figure this out!

Right now i have the dry coming out of all 3 cabs and it sounds bigger already. Can't wait to get the wet back in the l and r cabs!

1) did you confirm first that you have a clean signal with proper levels coming from the Bray line out into your mixer channel 1?
Either via the mixer meters or headphones? i like to do that with a fairly clean tone to start, to determine if that signal level is clean or overloading/clipping.

2) if that’s good, gauging by what i see,
you then send that center panned channel 1 input signal, via that channel’s efx send knob, to the mixer’s “efx out” jack.

3) that signal is connected/fed your pedal(s), with the ch. 1 efx knob controlling the level to the pedals without clipping (another reason to send clean tone - to confirm you’re not clipping your pedals)

this brings up my first question: is your ch 1 efx send pre or post channel fader/knob? let’s hope “pre” fader, not being affected by the channel volume fader/pot at the bottom.

4) the stereo output from the pedals return to your mixer, and it looks like you are using channel inputs 3/4 to do so. that’s fine. just turn the efx (send) knob on that 3/4 input channel off, and pan the balance to center.

5) from there you should be able to blend the center dry sound from ch.1 with the wet stereo sounds from ch.3/4 using the channel kevel controls. i’d highly recommend using headphones at first to get thd balance and tone right, then graduate to main L/R mixer out to stereo power & speakers.

From your pictures, it looks like you need to turn up the EFX knob to mix in your effects into that channel. Your effects need to have a 100% mix also. I would also use the stereo channels on the mixer, not the channels with the mic preamp.

Thanks for the help Mentoneman! Yes the signal from bray box line out is good. I moved it into input 3 (Lmono) on mixer from input 1 that had pre amp. I have the efx out going to pedal board wet effects.
I have the effects going into mixer input 8/9 and i am getting dry signal out of wet cabs loud and clear.
I cannot get any effects out of mixer though. Played with the efx knob, balance and level of each input (3/4 & 8/9) and only get dry signal out of all cabs.
I think i need a splitter cable from the bray box with one going to mixer and one going to effects no?

Going to bed and will buy a splitter cable after work tomorrow if you confirm that's needed.

Appreciate the help so much.. thanks again

Thanks for the help Shask. Yeah i moved the line out from mic input 1 to stereo input 3/4 mono after i took the pic.

I think i need a splitter cable from line out ......

What I do is use the direct box into a line in channel like you described. Then the aux send, which I think is efx on your mixer, is kind of like an effects loop on the mixer. It will send a signal out to your effects, and then you bring the effects mix back into the mixer in the aux/efx return, or into a second line in channel. Then the mixer output will go to your stereo reamping poweramp.

You shouldn't need a line from the di box to effects if your mixer has an effects send.

Yeah i tried using the efx out on mixer to effects boss dd500 nd md500 and then back into the efx return which is input 9/10 on the mixer but not working. I even tried other inputs on mixer and nothing. Maybe the efx out is broken? Anyways i just bought a splitter cable so hopefully splitting it to mixer and effects pedals boss dd500 and md500 will work. Will find out tonight!

Thanks again for your help

Does the effects unit show a signal on the input? I generally do this with rack units, and they will show an input meter. That is a quick way to see if the efx out is sending the signal out.

No the input meter never moved or lit up. My dry signal comes through great on the 2 wet cabs so i am mind boggled. Will find out tonight when i try the splitter.

I will be pissed if it ends of being a cable issue under my board lol. I use all lynch cables under there with boss es8 controller. I have moved the pedalboard at all in months and it was working fine last weekend before I added mixer.

Then it sounds like the efx out is not sending a signal. I would turn every single knob to noon, and push the buttons on the right in different combinations to see if you get one that works. I have an old Behringer mixer that kind of works the same way that I used until I recently upgraded to a Samson SM-10 rack mixer.

I tried all that. I even turned some past noon. I got a really unpleasant screech very loud when i turned the one with line out dry signal. Scared the bejesus outta me.

That happens to me when I turn up the send on my effects channel, to my effects channel. Basically sending the effects output right back into the input.

Briman24, you stated in the first post that you were already running wet/dry/wet before you brought the mixer into the picture. How were you doing this before?
