Ric 4003 is still my favorite bass, but my Ibanez fretless 5-string is versatile, sounds great and is a blast to play.

Finally selling my original Steinberger XL-2 bass, from '88, that I purchased new. Not in a hurry tho

Are you a fencer?

You clearly aren’t a bass player.

Post a clip of your band doing Down Rodeo with a p bass and flats.
You clearly don't have the same taste in music as me per your previous comments about how I wouldn't be playing anything if it weren't for the Beatles even though most of my favorite artists predate them by a few years or more.

If down rodeo is rock music I can't help you. I don't play rock music.

And I said sit in a way I liked.

And I told you my rig. There ain’t a damn thing wrong with it. You young guys prolly think it’s too heavy. And the toobs is too expensive.

By the way, NOS Russian tubes that cost more than that bass Dan just bought and whatever shitty combo amp he winds up with. ?

Then you should modify your previous statement to reflect the fact that you’re only talking about the music you like. Because I assure you flats don’t work with most of the stuff I like.

No, I definitely don't think that.

I just received two 21lbs 350 watt handling speakers for my Twin this afternoon. Hopefully they sound good. Just waiting to get my amps back. Heavy=reliable=heavy sound.

The only music that matters is the stuff I like though so I told him to get the flats, lol

They work good for hillbilly music too.

My ‘74 4001FG with another one of my SVT rigs. 2006 SVT CL and 2013 Heritage 810cl

No one can accuse a bass player who lugs an SVT to gigs of being a lazy ass.

My current guy has the Mesa subway with matching cab and it's the best sounding bass rig I've heard next to an SVT. Nothing beats an SVT but I was still impressed with his rig.

I went through many SVTs until I found the grail. Or the closest thing to it. The 2 non pro ( out of production since ‘93 I think) is as close as you can get to copping the tone of an old Magnavox era SVT. I looked for one for a couple years. I had a deal made with a guy on TalkBass for one and then he backed out. Next day he sold it to Justin Meldal Johnson. I told him he was a dick for buying it out from under me. His response was. “ Oh, cuz it’s the last one in the world?” Fuck that dick.
About a year later I found one about 20 miles south of me. Guy was asking $900. I gave it to him without hesitation. Then took it to the guy who most likely built it, Carlos Bedoya and had it serviced. Put some Winged Cs in it and it is glorious and responsive.
It’s the bass tone you hear on every AIC track before Mike Starr was fired. Because it’s the same rig. Same bass too.

I had a '68 Ric 4001 in jetglo with the checkerboard binding that I still regret selling.

Homie probably offered more money or seller had stars in his eyes. Truthfully I had to look up the guy.

In a bind for a P.A once another buddy ran us an SVT and 8x10 as a mono PA arrangement. It didn't just work, it worked WELL and had power to spare. Rich and warm, it was killer.

Try running two of them from the “ Ric-o-Sound” jack of a 4001. Holy fuck.

I used to bi-amp with an old Carvin RL 1000 and 4x10 and 1x18 Carvin cabs. It sounded great. Then I blew a 10” speaker and the OEM replacement from Carvin lasted one gig. Turns out it was made in China. I said fuck it and bought an SVT rig. I used the Carvin 1x18” as a sub for a PA rig and it hit like Mike Tyson though.

yes, toaster and still had the cover for the horseshoe
The new covers you buy straight from Ric are plastic. Same with the cover for the Hi Gain bridge pickup.

Mine resides in a drawer somewhere. Right where it belongs. ?
