Rick said one thing that caught my attention about people using AI to generate music they want to hear. That is, instead of musicians, record companies etc., creating music with AI, the listeners can create their own music.
Imagine you could take your entire music collection (albums, CDs, tapes, whatever), load it into the AI system to learn; then generate music from it...today build large language models (LLM) isn't something many can do, but I can see that changing in a few years.
The same for books, art, movies, games, etc., load and train the AI with content you like, and have it create a new book, artwork, movie, video game, song, etc. just for you, based on what you like.

I gotta get some music out before it takes over lol. For all the downsides though, it does sound cool to able to tell ai “give me an album with these musicians” and have it be something cool

All I want is to be able to sing (I suck) but have my voice generated in pitch and sound like someone cool. It doesn’t have to be in real time…just corrected after recorded.
Is that tech available yet ?

Judging by the sound of his song you ought to have been saying that back in late 70's with the disco/funk craze. Can AI make a form of music that a human didn't first invent? Doubtful. Kiss plus disco/funk turnt the market into image driven shit. Then MTV a few years later. The downfall of music, replacing pure talent for solely visual appeal and image marketability. So blame the humans for destroying music first.

My version of good doesn't include Bruno Mars or Jamiraqueer. Funk as it's known today is music that says nothing and goes nowhere but has elaborate stage attire and shows that morons think is good. KILLER LIGHT SHOW!!! Like I give a shit about that. I'm not talking about yelling at clouds here I'm talking about punching clouds right in their stupid faces.
There are no new genres to create that are worth creating so any new genre is bound to be shit especially considering the parameters of modern music which I have already posted at length about.
So there is nothing for AI to ruin anymore. It's already been done.
I've developed a new theory recently that stupidity destroys technology. Stupidity is actually more powerful than intelligence. Like my cell phone. It's supposed to ring so that I can answer it and talk to someone about business or pleasure. But instead it rings and it's all spam calls, so I don't even look at it half of the time and so I miss calls and messages from real people. So I have a powerful communications device that basically is rendered much less useful because of human stupidity. It overrides the technology.

at first, the AI will continue to improve. I'm sure it will get better than most of the top pop music being made today, especially if it's trained on good music - assuming one's subjective choice of good music is objectively good.

AI will improve, and learn. same as always, if you put garbage in, you get garbage out. If it's trained on good music it will generate similar music, and if refined / corrected / reinforced correctly it will improve even more.
some of my favorite music is Bach organ music; e.g.,
I'd train the AI on this, and see what happens; maybe add another composer to see the results.
Now if you train it on the weekly spotify top 10 pop songs...
