How do you think we know what sin is. Who do you think the apostles were? They were Jews. The Old Testament tells us fairly exhaustively what sin is with the exception of Jewish ritual law to do with atonement of their sins through ritual sacrifice and laws to do with clean and unclean food etc that was deemed not necesssary for gentiles to follow. Also it tells about about the nature of God and what is holy to him and what he detests. God is immutable which means unchanging. The same God of the Old Testament is the God of the New Testament. How can you repent if you don't even recognise what sins are. How do you think we know what they are?

Yes and now Christians no longer have to use the sacrificial system for forgiveness of sins. They are to repent and believe. Repent of sins. What are sins? They are identified in the Old and New Testament like I said. Why do you think Christians retained the Old Testament. It's not completely irrelevant. It tells us about the nature of God, his covenants, what he considers to be sin, makes prophesy etc

That is fine but if you love God you try to keep his commandments. You just don't give into sin and sin to your heart's content. You "run the race" and try and please God until the end. How do you please God, by repenting (keeping his commandments and not sinning) and loving God for the grace he has given us.
