we had an influx of people fleeing their totalitarian blue states, people from NYC, NJ, PA, OH. Thankfully, most left.
we were pretty much like Florida, free to live our lives here.
the state controls the beaches though, and for a few weeks they mandated that you could not sit or lay on the beach, you had to keep moving...and they had the DNR policing the beach...it was a joke.
our town does control the beach access; and they tried a few things to minimize the influx of visitors, with some success, like closing the beach access, limiting hotels and rentals ; curbside pickup for restaurants, etc., IIRC, so visitors didn't have much to do, nowhere to go, etc..
